The truth of the Iranian regime’s upcoming elections

Under the rule of the mullahs in Iran, the vote and choice of the people have no significance. It is ironic that such a regime, to whitewash its image and deceive minds, also wears the mask of “elections” and “democracy.” The “supervisory oversight” and “candidate qualification approval” in the “Council of Guardians ” are two mechanisms that clearly reveal the nature and the mission to preserve the regime.

The policy governing this engineering is to “purify” the regime from discordant elements and to concentrate power in the hands of those who precisely follow the directives of regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei. In other words, the goal of staging elections is to handpick and elevate the most subservient lackeys and arrange them in the front display of the regime.

The disqualification of most of the registered candidates for the presidency by the Council of Guardians leaves no doubt that everything has been arranged to preserve the regime and resolve the issue of Khamenei’s succession. Notably, among the disqualified are a former president, a former speaker of the Majlis (parliament), several ministers and deputy ministers, several members of the parliament, and a special member of Khamenei’s office. This means that after the demise of Ebrahim Raisi, the regime has reached a point of fragility where it even prunes its own limbs. It means it does not even have the stamina and capacity to hold a “show election” and has resorted to a “comical election” and a ridiculous version of it. Interestingly, two of the figures who are among the approved candidates this time had previously been disqualified by the Council of Guardians: Masoud Pezeshkian and Mostafa Pourmohammadi.

The elevation of Mostafa Pourmohammadi indicates Khamenei’s desperate need to fill the void left by Raisi. The common factor between this member of the Death Committee during the 1988 massacre and Raisi is their hysterical animosity towards the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). By highlighting him, Khamenei aims to advance the policy of “settling scores with the PMOI,” the driving force behind the uprisings and the overthrow.

To put it more clearly, he intends to “as always increase repression, purging, terrorism, and warmongering, and turn to nuclear weapons.

The decisive boycott of the parliament election by the Iranian people proved that there is no place for elections and it is time for a revolution.
