In the Free Iran 2023 campaign, more than 3,600 parliamentarians from 61 legislative bodies in 40 countries in Europe, North America, Arabic countries, and Australia have expressed their support for the Iranian people’s uprising and their desire to establish a democratic republic. They also voiced their support for the Ten-Point Plan of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and called for a firm policy against Iran’s regime, which includes the blacklisting of the Revolutionary Guards and holding regime leaders accountable for their crimes against humanity.

This widespread wave of international support by the representatives of hundreds of millions of people across the globe includes the majority of the U.S. Congress, the majority of the French National Assembly, 150 members of the European Parliament, the parliament and senate of Italy, the House of Commons and Lords of the United Kingdom, and the parliaments of Norway, Malta, Iceland, Northern Macedonia, Moldova, and the senates of the Netherlands and the Republic of Ireland.
I appreciate the initiative of the majority of French parliamentarians in support of the #Iranian people's struggle for a democratic republic based on the separation of religion and state.

This international statement condemns the Iranian regime’s killing of 750 protesters and the arrest of more than 30,000 people, as well as the recent wave of executions in Iran. The statement reads in part, “We stand in solidarity with the people of Iran in their desire for a secular and democratic republic where no individual, regardless of religion or birthright, has any privilege over others. Through their slogans the Iranian people have made it clear that they reject all forms of dictatorship, be it the deposed Shah or the current theocratic regime and thus reject any association with either.”
The statement emphasizes, “We believe it is for the Iranian people to decide their future. However, we recognize the fact that over the past four decades, the democratic coalition of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has constantly and tirelessly pursued democratic change.”
In the statement, the parliamentarians acknowledge the long history of struggle for freedom in Iran and the price paid by the freedom fighters of the Iranian Resistance. “The Iranian people’s courageous uprising can be attributed, on the one hand, to the explosive state of Iranian society, a product of suppression, poverty, discrimination, and government corruption, and, on the other hand, four decades of nationwide organized resistance,” the lawmakers write. “Tragically, in the summer of 1988 alone, over 30,000 political prisoners – the vast majority of whom were members of the MEK – were brutally massacred.”

The statement by 3,600 lawmakers indicates the illegitimacy of continuing the policy of appeasement toward the Iranian regime and the necessity to support the Iranian people and their resistance movement. This is the only policy that will ensure peace and security in the region and the world.
This statement has also received the support of 71 Nobel Laureates, three of whom sent video messages in support of the Iranian people’s struggle for freedom and the Ten-Point Plan of Mrs. Rajavi. The Nobel Laureates wrote, “Forty-four years ago, millions of Iranian people rejected the despotic rule of the Shah and its brutal secret police (SAVAK) by participating in mass demonstrations. Today, during the ongoing nationwide protests, they chant ‘No to Monarchy, No to Theocracy! Yes to Democracy, Equality.’”
