Resistance Units in Zahedan exposes the regime’s plunder and forge path to a democratic republic

On August 21, 2026, PMOI/MEK Resistance Units in Zahedan, southeast Iran, boldly resumed their weekly anti-regime activities. Rejecting all forms of tyranny, including the mullahs’ religious fascism and the shah’s dictatorship, the brave activists held placards in public locations with messages of resistance.

Demonstrating that the region of Baluchestan is awake and utterly despises both the current regime and the former monarchical dictatorship, they reiterated a core democratic demand of the Iranian people. Their placards firmly declared, “No to mullahs, no to shah. Yes to freedom and a democratic republic.”

The Resistance Units laid bare the reality of the regime’s executive branch, holding placards stating: “Under the clerical dictatorship, the president is merely a logistics clerk for the Supreme Leader—everything else is empty ceremony and theater.”

The activists also highlighted the devastating economic reality for ordinary Iranians, noting that under this plundering regime, “the people’s dining table shrinks daily, the number of people below the poverty line and hunger increases, and the line of the unemployed grows longer.”

This economic devastation was framed not as a natural byproduct, but as the direct result of systematic theft by the ruling establishment, with placards reading, “The people’s poverty and hunger are the result of 48 years of rule by a regime that plunders the nation’s wealth.”

To address the nation’s severe gasoline shortages, the Zahedan Resistance Units proposed a practical and revealing solution in their messages: “Cut 5 million liters of gasoline daily from the IRGC, from the Basij, from Ministry of Intelligence, and from the Police—totaling 20 million liters—and there will be no more shortage.”

This statement cuts to the core of the regime’s fuel impasse. Iranian officials recently admitted that daily gasoline consumption has reached roughly 135 million liters against a domestic production of only 121 million liters, resulting in a daily deficit of 14 to 15 million liters.

To cover this deficit, the Pezeshkian administration is currently weighing disastrous models, such as dual pricing which would trigger hyperinflation, or individual rationing of a meager 30 liters per month. However, as the Resistance Units highlighted, if the regime were to simply defund the daily fuel consumption of its four main repressive entities by 5 million liters each, it would completely wipe out the 15-million-liter deficit and even leave a 5-million-liter surplus.

The Resistance Units in Zahedan proudly championed the independent resistance broadcaster, describing it in their messages as a pivotal force: “The national telethon for Simay Azadi shone as a beacon of the defining battle for liberation—igniting the spirit of independence and freedom across Iran.”

This celebrates the monumental success of Simay Azadi’s 30th annual national telethon, which drew $7.54 million over 47 hours of continuous live transmission. The telethon’s success reflects profound grassroots solidarity, funded not by foreign states, but by the very people it seeks to liberate. This includes profoundly high-risk contributions originating from inside Iran, where impoverished citizens facing acute economic deprivation repeatedly risked detection to call the banned network.

The activities in Zahedan concluded with a solemn vow on behalf of Iran’s brave youth: “The vow made by Iran’s brave youth to the regime’s leaders, executioners, and henchmen is clear: complete accountability before the tribunal of a risen nation.” Stressing that “As long as this regime is in power, poverty, inflation, and unemployment will intensify,” the Resistance Units emphasized that “The only answer is solidarity, uprising, and protest.”

Delivering a powerful historical promise that “the fire of the people’s uprising and the regime’s overthrow are ahead,” they declared that “Religious tyranny, just like monarchical tyranny, will be buried by the people’s uprising.” The message of the Iranian people is unified and unyielding: “From Zahedan to Tehran, down with the oppressor, be it the shah or the supreme leader.”
