Iran’s rebellious youth target regime centers of repression, support striking prisoners in Ghezel Hesar

On Tuesday, October 14, Iran’s rebellious youth launched 15 fiery responses against regime targets in support of a strike by 1,500 death-row prisoners in Ghezel Hesar Prison. These prisoners are crying out: “Every day, many of our fellow inmates are sent to the gallows. We need support. Genocide and mass killings are taking place in Ghezel Hesar Prison.”

With a warning to every executioner, judge, death-penalty agent, and regime official, the defiant rebellious youth, in a series of operations across various cities of Iran, attacked the regime’s organs and symbols of repression as follows:

  • Three incendiary attacks on the headquarters of the Execution of Khomeini’s Order (EIKO) in Karaj, an organization controlled by the Supreme Leader known for plundering public wealth
  • Two incendiary attacks on IRGC Basij bases in Isfahan
  • Setting fire to a corrupt regime building in District 5 of Tehran
  • Attacking an IRGC Basij base in Kermanshah
  • Attacking an IRGC Basij base in Aligudarz
  • Setting fire to IRGC Basij bases and centers in Mashhad, Dezful, Borujerd, Langarud, Lordegan, and Aligudarz
  • Setting fire to banners of regime founder Ruhollah Khomeini, supreme leader Ali Khamenei, and terror master Qassem Soleimani in Ghaemshahr and Rudbar
  • Setting fire to a propaganda banner in Mehrestan promoting the anti-patriotic Iran-Iraq war, bearing images of Khomeini and Khamenei
  • Setting fire to a sign for the espionage headquarters of the IRGC Basij intelligence in Rasht

Entangled in a web of successive domestic and international crises and failures, the regime has unprecedentedly increased the number of executions to block the path of uprisings and prevent an explosion of public anger. From October 13 to 15 alone, the regime sent at least 38 prisoners to the gallows. Thus, the criminal Khamenei has taken a human life less than every two hours, a rate unprecedented in any country in the 21st century.

On the second day of the hunger strike by 1,500 death-row prisoners in Ghezel Hesar Prison, the families of some prisoners protested in front of the prison. On the same day, October 14, the striking prisoners issued a statement declaring: “Our patience has run out from all this oppression and the taking of the lives of prisoners and youths. Every day and every week, some of our fellow inmates are sent to the gallows, and many of us spend our nights with the nightmare of death, and these are the most painful moments of our lives and for our families… We demand the abolition of the death penalty in Iran.”

In videos released from this hunger strike, prisoners holding signs that read “No to executions” are calling on the UN Secretary-General to prevent the massacre of prisoners.

In one of the videos released from Ghezel Hesar Prison, a striking prisoner, with a choked voice, addresses the people of Iran, saying: “This is Ghezel Hesar Prison. We are on the second day of our strike because of the countless executions that kill our compatriots and friends every week. We ask the noble people of Iran to support us. We are the children of this land.”

Political prisoners in Ward 7 of Evin Prison, a facility in Tehran notorious for holding political detainees, issued a statement of support for the strike of the death-row prisoners in Ghezel Hesar, declaring: “We declare our support for the rightful demand of the prisoners under death sentence in Unit 2 of Ghezel Hesar Prison. The unjust sentence of execution must be abolished.”

Prisoners of Unit 4 of Ghezel Hesar also wrote: “We support the resistance of our friends in Unit 2 and their families in front of the prison. We ask all compatriots and awakened consciences to do everything in their power to abolish the death penalty, to save us and our friends. Even tomorrow is too late!”

On this day, the brave vanguards of the rebellious youth, with their fiery support for the striking prisoners in Ghezel Hesar, lit the guiding beacon of resistance for the youth and of Iran. By striking the anti-people Basij bases of the IRGC and setting fire to images of the accursed Khomeini and the tyrant Khamenei, they send the strong message that “Fire and uprising are the answer to executions!”
