PMOI Resistance Units in Zahedan defy regime, lead Iran’s true battle for freedom

While Iran’s clerical regime scrambles to spin a narrative of victory following a disastrous 12-day war, the true pulse of the nation beats not in the hollow statements of its leaders, but in the defiant streets of its cities.

On June 27, despite a brutal security crackdown, PMOI Resistance Units in Zahedan bravely took to the streets, their actions sending an unmistakable message: the main conflict in Iran is not a foreign war, but the people’s determined battle for freedom. As the mullahs’ dictatorship reels from military and political failure, these courageous activists are exposing its profound weakness and articulating the people’s unwavering demand to overthrow the regime and establish a democratic republic.

Confronting the lies of a defeated regime

The Resistance Units’ activities serve as a direct rebuttal to the propaganda of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In a recent video address, a tired and hoarse Khamenei claimed to have “crushed” his enemies. This fantasy stands in stark contrast to the grim reality confirmed by international observers and even his own officials: Iran’s nuclear facilities have been “badly damaged.”

The Resistance Units on the ground are holding him directly accountable for this catastrophe. One of their placards in Zahedan cut through the regime’s lies, stating, “Khamenei is responsible for an anti-national [nuclear weapons] project that, in addition to many lives, cost the people of Iran at least 2 trillion dollars and has now gone up in smoke.”

While Khamenei preaches of fictitious strength, the people demand an end to his destructive rule, with another slogan declaring, “Now, Khamenei must go. The people of Iran welcome the end of the war and want peace and freedom.”

The “third option” in action: the people’s path to liberation

These courageous acts are not isolated expressions of anger but are the living embodiment of the Iranian Resistance’s long-standing strategy: the “Third Option.” As articulated by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, this path rejects both foreign war and the failed Western policy of appeasement.

Following the ceasefire, Mrs. Rajavi welcomed the development as “a step forward for the third option,” emphasizing that the focus must be on the people’s struggle. The slogans brandished by the Resistance Units, who are organized by the PMOI’s vast network and come from all walks of life, echo this strategy perfectly: “We say neither appeasement and preserving the mullahs’ regime nor war, but the third option: change by the people and the Iranian Resistance.”

They are making it clear that the only viable solution to the crisis in Iran will come from the Iranian people themselves. Their message is simple: “Let the Iranian people themselves bring down Khamenei and the dictatorship of the mullahs.”

A clear vision: rejecting all tyranny for a democratic republic

The Resistance Units are not only fighting against a brutal dictatorship; they are fighting for a free, democratic, and secular future. Their slogans explicitly reject all forms of tyranny, making it clear that the Iranian people will not trade one dictator for another.

As one placard boldly stated, “‘Death to Khamenei’ in the religious dictatorship is the other side of the coin of ‘Death to the Shah’ in the monarchical dictatorship.” This powerful statement reflects a deep-seated popular desire for a genuine republic. The alternative they champion is clear and is rooted in Mrs. Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan for the Future of Iran. They have declared: “We have risen up for the overthrow of the regime and the establishment of a democratic, non-nuclear republic, with separation of religion and state, equality between men and women…”

The unstoppable cry for overthrow

The courageous activities in Zahedan send an unequivocal message to the world: the Iranian people have made their choice. They refuse to be pawns in the regime’s destructive games and are committed to reclaiming their country. The ceasefire has stripped away the regime’s facade, exposing its fundamental illegitimacy and weakness. The true strength of Iran lies in its people and their organized resistance. Their defiant chant is the final word on the matter: “As far as the Iranian people and the rebels for freedom are concerned, there is no question of surrender, and we have constantly said: overthrow, overthrow, overthrow.”
