In a recent television interview, Iranian regime president Ebrahim Raisi put on a marathon of lies and deceit with a big dose of audacity. From his usual lies like reducing liquidity growth and controlling inflation, to claims of production growth and increasing subsidies, eradicating poverty, free water, electricity, and gas, healthcare insurance, and fighting corruption, among others. These claims are all baseless and repugnant.
However, Raisi’s despicable claims, there is one that deserves a closer look. When he boasted about the regime’s disgraceful missile drone attack and claimed that the so-called “Sincere Promise” operation “lifted the shadow of war from the country.” How a war and attack, if taken seriously, can lift the shadow of war is a question that this lying individual should answer himself.
But Raisi did not suffice in describing the benefits of the regime’s missiles and said, “You will see its effects in economic and social domains.” He then added, “A missile attack was truly a unifying point, a consensus of all currents. This operation managed to unify all tendencies, and all orientations approved of this action. Surely, it can also serve as a unifying factor in addressing issues in other areas.”
One of these areas is the economy, and Raisi has stated that “the overflow of this power (missile power) can be seen in the economic situation and other endeavors.”
Of course, we shouldn’t expect him to explain how missile power has overflowed into the economy. Perhaps by “economy,” he means the financial and economic situation of the ruling elite and their cronies who have already accumulated billions of dollars through smuggling missile components and nuclear equipment.
According to Raisi, missiles are the solution to all the problems of the regime, from economic and social crises to internal crises. As regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei expressed in a television interview, this achievement shines brightly, leading to the conclusion that “the solution to the country’s problems is missiles!” Raisi also confirms this conclusion.
Raisi’s statements, regardless of the lies and ridiculous exaggerations, indicate the reality that the regime’s strategy for survival and continuation of governance is based on the three principles:
1) Brutal suppression, torture, and execution
2) Building atomic bombs
3) Warmongering and terrorism outside of Iran
The intensity and exaggeration of Raisi’s lies, in attributing missiles as the solution to all the gripping crises of the regime, be it economic, social, or political, implicitly acknowledges the reality that the regime has no solutions to contain these crises.
However, when the issue is examined, in the context of the regime’s faceoff with the Iranian people, the missile and missile program not only prove ineffective but also fuel the flames of anger and resentment among the deprived and oppressed masses.
They witness how the regime, by exploiting them and depriving them of their most basic needs, channels the gains of this plundering into its own nuclear and missile ambitions, prolonging its disgraceful existence for a few more mornings. This is why Iranians confront the regime in their protests and chant, “Our enemy is right here!”
