Iran, September 14, 2020—Over 103,000 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 431 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Monday afternoon local time, September 14. The official death count declared by the regime stands at 23,313, around a fifth of the actual figure.
The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 7439 in North Khorasan, 6772 in Khuzestan, 4749 in Isfahan, 4685 in Qom, 4261 in Gilan, 3158 in Sistan & Baluchistan, 2923 in Alborz, 2886 in Fars, 2402 in Kermanshah, 1645 in Kerman, 1381 in Hormozgan, 1351 in Semnan, 1344 in Markazi (Central), 1293 in Bushehr, 1252 in Ardabil, 989 in Zanjan, 872 in Ilam, and 704 in Kohgiluyeh & Boyer Ahmed. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

“In Qom during the past two days there has been a new increase. In Tabriz we are having a new escalation and in Tehran we are witnessing an increase in the number of people hospitalized during the past two days,” said regime Health Minister Saeid Namaki on Sunday. “I hope that these new increases will not engulf us in a devastating dilemma,” he added, according to state TV.
“Last week we had 6200 people hospitalized. This increased to 7700 this week, meaning a rise of 1500 people. There was a 7.4 per 100,000 people, which has now reached 9.3 percent. The Covid-19 death rate was around 13.2 per one million, which has now risen to 13.9,” said Deputy Health Minister Alireza Raisi on Sunday, according to state TV.

“If the government had imposed strict quarantine measures from March 10 to April 8, the first Covid-19 wave would have had lesser cases and deaths, and our medical staff would not have faced a back-breaking work pressure,” said Hossein Ghashlaghi, a member of the Medical Apparatus Council on Monday. “Another mistake that led to an increase of cases and deaths is the reopening of schools that comes with a high risk, while not reopening schools is a controlling element in decreasing the stats during the third Covid-19 wave,” he added, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).
“From mid to late June the number of daily new cases and hospitalization increased once again, and this trend continues as we speak,” said the regime’s Health Ministry spokesperson during a visit to Qom on Monday. “Currently there are around 500 Covid-19 patients hospitalized of which 95 are reported to be in dire conditions. For several weeks Qom has been registered as a red zone and the number of people hospitalized is above the country’s average numbers,” she added, according to the regime’s official IRNA news agency.

The spokesperson of Isfahan Medical Sciences University said, “Aside from Kashan and Bidgol counties, there are 1,045 patients hospitalized in this province and 179 of them are in critical conditions in ICU sections. We’ve had 14 Covid-19 deaths in the past day.” (Source: Mehr News Agency, September 14)
According to the semi-official ISNA news agency, the caretaker of Alborz Medical Sciences University said on Monday, “In the past 24 hours, 13 patients have lost their lives and the total number of deaths in the province has reached 1,028.”
The head of the Nurses Organization in Hamedan province said, “Since the beginning of the outbreak, 850 of the medical staff of the province have contracted the virus. Since the beginning of the outbreak, no special measure were take for the nurses and there have only been talks and promises. The coronavirus bonus that the media talked about so much was nothing but an insult to the nurses, and many of my colleagues here returned the sum to be spent on medical and sanitation equipment for the people. If this situation continues, the medical staff will have very hard days ahead.” (Source: ISNA, September 13)
In Khuzestan province, the caretaker of Dezful governorate said that by mid-September, the next coronavirus peak will coincide with the flu, according to the state-run Mehr News Agency. “In the past few days, the number of coronavirus cases has increased considerably. Coronavirus stats in Dezful have spiked.”
In the university reopening ceremony, one of the students wrote to regime president Hassan Rouhani: “Apparently, in the critical conditions of the coronavirus, everything has returned to normal. Schools have reopened, government offices are working, people have returned to their jobs, and it is only you who are keeping your distance from the people.
