Iran’s broken economy, a symbol of the regime’s warmongering

Iran’s regime uses warmongering and the export of terrorism as one of the main pillars to maintain its hold on power. However, the byproduct of this expensive adventurism is the destruction of the country’s economy, which is backfiring against the regime as the lives of millions of Iranians plunges into poverty and misery.

On April 14, the state-run Ham-Mihan newspaper reported, “In the coming year, the Iranian society will not experience better conditions economically and socially, and dissatisfaction will continue under the shadow of ongoing problems.”

Ham-Mihan quoted the Vice President of the Union of Veteran Workers’ Society as saying, “Workers have become poorer in the past two years, and the real purchasing power of workers has decreased by about 34 percent. The wages set for the [Persian calendar] year 1403 [March 2024–March 2025] were lower than the announced average inflation rate. In addition to suffering poverty, the working class must also endure the hardship of illness.”

The former president of Tehran University of Medical Sciences said, “In unfavorable economic conditions, people have categorized treatment among non-essential expenses.” A social psychiatrist said, “The level of economic problems and destabilizing issues that affect families and citizens is so high that increasing legal and social pressures and government expectations can disrupt the remaining balance.”

A member of the Teachers’ Guild said, “There are approximately 3-4 million dropout students, many of whom have economic roots, meaning families who cannot afford the cost of their children’s education.” A sociologist said, “It is believed that if conditions continue in this manner, economic, social, and political collapse is likely.”

Financial mismanagement and corruption are tools in the hands of the mullah’s regime. The tainted and swampy economy that Iranian regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei and his mafia have created by seizing the country’s resources has led most economists and experts to conclude that only from the anti-national and anti-human thoughts and behaviors of this government can such corruption be born.

On April 15, Iran Emrooz newspaper quoted economist Ahmad Alavi as saying, “The current autocratic government leverages the revenues derived from natural resources such as oil or gas to secure the loyalty of certain factions by distributing those revenues among them. Financial mismanagement and corruption play a significant role in attracting certain dependent factions as the state’s support base, through the distribution of rents such as educational rent, job rent, import privileges, preferential dollar rates, religious authority rent, or land and property distribution.”

The regime’s supporters and agents do not miss any opportunity or situation to engage in plunder and profiteering even at the cost of domestic humiliation and international condemnation.

On April 16, ILNA news agency quoted the Vice President of the Iran-Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce, as saying, “Natural gas, oil gases, non-alloyed ingots, and steel are among the main groups of goods exported from Iran to Afghanistan. Iran’s imports from Afghanistan include various types and breeds of camels, components of perfumery, breeding cattle, unground pepper, manganese ore, and other primary commodities that come from Afghanistan to Iran.”

On the other hand, the outcome of the terror and slaughter industry run by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) serves as a symbol of the corruption of the criminals ruling over Iran.

On February 20, the state-run Khabar Online news website wrote, “In recent years, Iran’s arms exports have shown a significant diversity in their export basket. Particularly in the four sectors of ‘drones,’ ‘missiles,’ ‘aerospace,’ and ‘maritime,’ some Western sources believe that countries such as Russia, Ethiopia, Tajikistan, Bolivia, Venezuela, Iraq, and others are destinations for Iranian arms exports.”

However, despite all the insurgency, warmongering, looting of the oppressed people’s wealth, and dragging Iran into annihilation, the path of dictatorship ultimately leads to its downfall.

Khamenei is a strategic loser in these warmongering endeavors and has fallen into a trap. The overthrow of religious fascism will be accomplished by the hands of the Iranian people and resistance, and it is inevitable and imminent.
