Iran, November 7, 2018 – Employees of the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Company in southwest Iran rallied on Wednesday, continuing their strike for the third consecutive day. These workers are seeking answers to their demands and protesting company mismanagement.
They also issued a serious warning to the regime’s officials to respond to their demands by Monday or else they will transfer the strike and protests outside of the company grounds.

The Haft Tappeh Farming & Industry Complex, located near the historical city of Shush Danial in southwest Iran, is in Khuzestan Province and located between the two cities of Ahvaz and Andimeshk. This is the oldest sugar cane company in Iran and officially began its work back in 1975 permitted to develop sugar cane farmlands for sugar productions.
This company was privatized in 2015 under plans by the mullahs’ regime to further plunder the locals. Ever since the company has faced numerous financial dilemmas. Privatized state firms have failed to provide their employees’ paychecks on time, leading to a downfall and even stoppage of production, and long lasting strikes.
Here’s a look at the main protests and strikes held by the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Company employees in the past two years, parallel to many protests across the country:
– Employees of the Infrastructure & Machinery Department rallied on December 18, 2017, protesting the company officials’ not living up to their promises to deposit the employees’ paychecks.
– More than 500 employees went on strike on September 2, 2017, protesting delays in their paychecks and pensions.
– Hundreds of employees and their family members rallied on August 12, 2017, protesting officials neglecting and not responding to their demands.
– More than three thousand employees rallied on February 4, 2017, protesting officials not living up to their promises to deposit their paychecks. This protests continued for 11 days.
– Employees of various departments in this company rallied and went on strike on April 4, 2017, protesting and demanding the release of their colleagues.
– On December 14, 2017, employees ended their seven-day strike as officials gave in to their demands.
