MEK Resistance Units support strikes by Iran’s oil industry workers

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, August 15, 2020—In their latest activities, Iranian Resistance Units, the internal network of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), expressed their support for the ongoing strike of employees and workers of Iran’s oil, natural gas, and petrochemical industries.

In their continued activities on August 13 across the country, the Resistance Units installed banners and handwritten slogans on walls supporting the strike of Iran’s oil industry workers, who have been on strike for two weeks for their basic rights.

The protesting workers demand their overdue wages and improved working conditions. The protests were triggered after a petrochemical worker died of a heart stroke in Mahsharh due to poor working conditions. Earlier, another worker committed suicide due to unpaid wages. Meanwhile, the regime continues to neglect the rights and demands of the workers.

Call for regime change

The Iranian Resistance Units activities across Iran continue their activities despite the wave of arrests and clampdown by regime security forces, calling for regime change and an end to the clerical regime.

The members of Resistance Units and MEK supporters bravely took to graffiti in public places in the cities of Tehran, Eslamshahr, Karaj, Varamin, Amol, Qom, and Avoj (Hamedan), spreading messages and slogans of the Iranian Resistance Leaders Massoud Rajavi and Maryam Rajavi.

The Resistance Units also continued to pay tribute to Mostafa Salehi, Iranian political prisoner executed by the regime on August 5 for participating in the 2018 nationwide uprisings.

Their slogans read:

“Down with Khamenei, hail to Rajavi”

“We support the workers on strike”

“The uprising in Iran is like fire under the ashes”

“Revolt is the only way”

“The resistance units and cities are the keys to victory”

“Hail to the martyr of the uprising, Mostafa Salehi, and the day he decided to struggle against the regime’s suppressive forces”

“A free Iran with Maryam Rajavi”

IRGC suppressive centers remain the target of the defiant youth

On August 12, Iran’s defiant youth targeted six facilities belonging to the suppressive Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) in various cities. Six IRGC Basij bases in Karaj, Chaharmahal Bakhtiari, and Langrud were torched by the rebellious and defiant youths. Basij is the most hated suppressive paramilitary force and a subsidiary of the terrorist-designated IRGC. Its main role is to crack down on protests and demonstrations such as the November 2019 nationwide uprising.

Also on August 12, the youth in Zahedan and Tabriz torched banners of Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and regime’s founder Ruhollah Khomeini.

These acts are a reflection of an upset society, as many experts close to the regime have warned.

The Impact of the Resistance Units in Iran’s society

In the last two years, the Iranian Resistance Units had a major impact on protests in Iran. The Iranian Resistance firmly believes that any change in Iran must come from within and by the Iranian people themselves, and the Resistance Units are testament to this fact.

The strength of the Iranian Resistance Units is their advantage of having the leadership and organizational support of the MEK. According to the Iranian regime officials and state-run media, MEK and its network inside the country played a key role in the December 2017 and November 2019 nationwide uprisings.

The activities of Resistance Units continue to keep the flame of protest and resistance alit against the regime’s efforts to cause fear and dismay in the population.
