MEK Resistance Units commemorate Iranian political prisoners executed in 1988

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, August 19, 2020—In the face of mullahs’ regime repression, the internal network of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), known as the Resistance Units, continued their anti-regime activities across the country, echoing the Iranian people’s desire to overthrow the mullahs’ rule and to achieve freedom and democracy.

Also, rebellious Iranian youth in several cities targeted suppressive centers of the Revolutionary Guard (IRGC).

The Resistance Units organized numerous activities across the country on August 16 and 17, commemorating victims of the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in 1988, ordered by regime’s then–Supreme Leader Ruhollah Khomeini.

In their activities, the Resistance Unit members held up signs with the slogans and inspiring messages of the Iranian Resistance Leaders Massoud Rajavi and Maryam Rajavi, commemorating the secretly executed prisoners and calling for the perpetrators of the massacre to be brought to justice.

The 1988 massacre of Iranian political prisoners, mostly members, supporters and sympathizers of the MEK, was an unprecedented crime against humanity that continues to this day.

The footages received from inside of Iran shows the Resistance Units spreading anti-regime slogans in various cities by posting handwritten slogans and signs on the walls and calling for justice concerning the 1988 massacre. Their slogans read:

“The perpetrators of the 1988 massacre must be brought to justice."

“The 1988 massacre, the greatest unpunished crime against humanity”

“The sacred blood of those martyrs, particularly those slain in 1988, is today inspiring the nation in Iran”

“We will neither forgive nor forget the 1988 massacre of political prisoners”

“The mullahs’ virus has no result but mass murder”

“Down with Khamenei, hail to Rajavi”

“Down with the principle of the Supreme Leader’s rule”

“The only solution to achieve freedom is to revolt”

Regime’s suppressive centers targeted in various cities

Simultaneously, on August 15, 16 and 18, Iran’s defiant youth targeted four facilities belonging to the suppressive IRGC in various cities. Four IRGC Basij bases in Rasht, Gorgan, Shahin Shahr, and Ahvaz were torched by the rebellious and defiant youths.

Basij is the most hated suppressive paramilitary force and a subsidiary of the terrorist designated IRGC. Its main role is to crack down on protests and demonstrations such as the November 2019 nationwide uprising.

At the same time, in Mashhad and Mahshahr an Iranian regime center used for looting the people and a center of spread of fundamentalism were torched by the defiant youth. These institutions are used by the mullahs as instruments to suppress the Iranian people and plunder their wealth.

In other cities such as Mashhad, Galikesh (Golestan), Kordkuy (Golestan), Marand (East Azerbaijan), and Khorramabad, the brave and rebellious youths torched banners and images of regime officials and leaders, including Khomeini, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei ,and the terror master Qassem Soleimani. Soliemani, the commander of the IRGC Quds Force and head of the mullahs’ extraterritorial terrorist attacks, was killed in Iraq on January 3 by a U.S. drone airstrike. He specifically supervised attacks against the MEK during the years of their stay in Iraq.
