Iran, August 19, 2020—Five death row inmates, including one woman, were all executed early Tuesday morning local time in the city of Mashhad, northeast Iran. The names of these latest victims executed in Mashhad’s Vakilabad Prison are:
-Mr. Ardeshir Bahadori
-Mr. Ali Gholami Aghouie
-Ms. Marzieh Ebrahimpour
-Two other inmates whose names have not been published as of yet.
The death sentences for these inmates were previously issued in Mashhad’s First Criminal Court and upheld in the regime’s so-called Supreme Court.
Ardeshir Bahadori was arrested in 2017 on charges of murder during a street fight and eventually sentenced to death following judicial procedures. This ruling was upheld in the regime’s Supreme Court and the dossier transferred to Mashhad’s judiciary branch to be implemented. For reasons that remain unknown Bahadori was transferred from Bojnourd Prison to Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad for his execution.
Marzieh Ebrahimpour, a resident of the Safar Ghale village near the city of Dargaz of Razavi Khorasan province, northeast Iran, was arrested in 2012 on charges of murdering an individual by the name of Mohammad Rousta. Following her arrest by state security forces and after being interrogated, she was sentenced to death by the Branch Four of the Razavi Khorasan First Criminal Court. This ruling was upheld by Branch Two of the regime’s Supreme Court and the dossier was transferred to Mashhad’s judiciary branch to be implemented.
Mohammad Reza Dashtban, the criminal judge and deputy public prosecutor of Razavi Khorasan province, was present during Tuesday morning’s execution.

Furthermore, two inmates in the prisons of Mashhad and Yasuj, in northeast and south-central Iran, respectively, were executed on Sunday, April 16. Another inmate in the city of Urmia, northwest Iran, was transferred to solitary confinement on Sunday, according to human rights groups, and executed early Monday morning.
According to these same reports, the executed inmates of Mashhad and Yasuj had been held behind bars two and three years, respectively.
Another inmate by the name of Arsalan Yasini, imprisoned in Urmia for the past ten years, was hanged in the early hours of Monday, August 17. At the time of his arrest, 12 years ago, he was only 17 years old.
It is worth noting that from July 22 to this day 31 inmates have been executed across Iran. This country, under the mullahs’ rule, has the highest executions per capita in the world and continues to execute minor offenders.
The Iranian regime’s so-called courts are notorious for their lack of due process and offenders are regularly coerced into making confessions against themselves.
From 2014 to the end of 2017, the mullahs’ regime executed at least 25 people for crimes committed when they were minors, according to Amnesty International and other human rights groups. In 2018 alone, the regime executed seven people for crimes they allegedly committed while under the age of 18.

The Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) issued a call on Saturday asking international human rights organizations to take action and save the life of political prisoner Abbas Mohammadi, and to have his death sentenced revoked.

Mohammadi and four other protesters, all born in the 1990s, have been sentenced to two counts of executions on bogus charges of “enmity against God” and “violating others’ rights.” They have been under intense interrogation and torture by authorities in order to obtain confessions to crimes they did not commit.
