Iran, January 1, 2020—On December 30, the rebellious youth of Iran launched an attack on the Khatam al-Anbiya garrison, one of the key headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) located in Tehran.
A video that was widely distributed on social media shows a heavy explosion at the entrance of the base.

Terrified at the consequences of one of its key bases having been breached, the regime quickly denied the attack having taken place. Fars News Agency, run by the IRGC, declared that a “handmade grenade” was thrown at the base and “there was no damage except for a poster catching fire.” Fars also claimed that the “identity of the thrower of the grenade is being investigated.”

Fars’s Twitter account also denied the attack and posted a video that claims the base is continuing its operations without disruption.

The attack on Khatam al-Anbiya takes place while the regime has been adopting heavy security measures to protect its key bases and structures. These measures have escalated in wake of recent nationwide uprisings, in which the outraged people of Iran took to torching buildings and centers that symbolize the corruption and tyranny of the regime.
In fact, the regime has allocated so many forces and units to the protection of regime buildings that it wasn’t even able to gather a substantial crowd for its yearly pro-government rally on December 30. The regime is effective in a deadlock, where the smallest negligence can trigger the spark for the next round of protests.
Nonetheless, the rebellious youth of Iran are proving that they will continue to challenge the regime at every corner, including its most vital centers. The attack on the Khatam al-Anbiya garrison has caused much fear for the regime, which is why it is frantically trying to downplay the event, fearing that more is to come.
