On the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), Resistance Units across Iran carried out dozens of activities to celebrate this milestone. From the capital Tehran to major centers like Karaj, Mashhad, Isfahan, and Shiraz, and extending to Zahedan and Kermanshah, the Resistance Units defied the regime’s atmosphere of intense repression to spread a message of hope and steadfastness.
The coordinated nature of these activities, spanning the entire country, demonstrates not only the extraordinary courage of these units operating under the watchful eyes of the regime’s security apparatus but also the deep roots and sophisticated capacity of the organized resistance network.

Six decades of steadfastness
The slogans that adorned city walls served as a living testament to the organization’s history. Phrases like “Sixty Years of Glorious Steadfastness” and “Sixty Years of Infinite Sacrifice” were more than just anniversary celebrations; they were a revolutionary interpretation of what it means to endure in the face of one of the world’s most brutal dictatorships. The message affirms that this movement is not a fleeting phenomenon but a historical reality that has withstood generations of oppression and sacrifice, granting it an undeniable historical and political legitimacy.
“Neither Shah nor mullahs”
Among the most prominent slogans were “Sixty Years… No to the Shah, No to the Mullahs” and “Death to the oppressor, be it the Shah or the Supreme Leader.” This carries a profound political message that defines the resistance’s core vision. It is an explicit declaration that the Iranian people categorically reject all forms of dictatorship, whether monarchical or religious. This message, directed at both domestic and international audiences, asserts that Iran’s revolution will not be stolen again and that the goal is not to replace one tyrant with another, but to establish a truly democratic republic.

A decisive response to tyranny
Confronting a regime that understands only the language of force, the Resistance Units raised decisive slogans such as “The answer to the mullahs is fire, let the flames rise!” This was coupled with the words of resistance leader Massoud Rajavi: “The regime understands no language but that of force, power, and decisiveness.” The interpretation of these slogans is that decades of experience have proven that peaceful appeals are futile against a system built on oppression. It signals a clear strategy that sees courageous confrontation and a decisive response to the regime’s crimes as the only way to break the wall of fear and achieve change.
A free Iran led by Maryam Rajavi
The activities were not limited to rejecting the past and present; they presented a clear vision for the future. Slogans like “Maryam Rajavi is Iran’s hope for a better tomorrow” and “Spring will come with the motto ‘We can and we must'” carry an interpretation filled with hope. They affirm that the resistance is not just fighting to overthrow the regime but possesses a ready-made democratic alternative and a project to build a new Iran. These slogans reflect confidence in the leadership and in Mrs. Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan, which promises freedom, equality, and the separation of religion and state.

On the path of the founders
The Resistance Units honored the memory of the organization’s founders with slogans like “Tribute to the enlightened souls of Hanif, Saeed, and Asghar.” The motivational interpretation of these slogans is the linking of the current generation of activists to the foundational principles of the movement. It is an affirmation that the core values of honesty and sacrifice remain the compass guiding their struggle after sixty years, giving their movement authenticity and ideological depth.
From a small seed to a nationwide forest
Perhaps the most eloquent slogan was the one that described the organization’s journey. The Resistance Units laid flower wreaths in front of the humble apartment where the PMOI’s founders began the movement in 1965. “Here, in house number 444 on Keshavarz Boulevard, they planted a seed, and today, a green forest with its towering cypresses continues on the same path. From the Mojahedin of Ashraf to the supporters of Ashraf and the Resistance Units.” This narrative embodies the story of the movement’s growth and its victory over attempts at annihilation. The seed planted by the founders did not die; instead, it grew and transformed into a dense forest of organized resistance, proving that the will for freedom is stronger than all forms of oppression.
These widespread activities on the 60th anniversary of the PMOI affirm that the seed planted on that day has now blossomed into thousands of Resistance Units across Iran. These youths, carrying the legacy of six decades of struggle and sacrifice, are the true guarantors of the country’s future, and they are the ones who will ultimately liberate Iran.
