PMOI Resistance Units mark 4th anniversary of November 2019 uprising

November 15 marked the fourth anniversary of the November 2019 nationwide uprising in Iran. At the time, a sudden hike in the prices of fuel triggered protests that quickly spread to more than 190 cities and resurfaced public hatred towards the mullahs’ regime for decades of repression and corruption.

The protests lasted for several weeks, challenging the regime’s hold on power like never before. The regime only managed to avoid its total collapse through the brutal massacre of more than 1,500 unarmed protesters with the help of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), the Basij, and the State Security Forces (SSF).

On the anniversary of the November 2019 uprising Resistance Units, the network of PMOI supporters inside Iran, held activities across the country. They reiterated their commitment to continue the path of the martyrs of the uprising and to overthrow the mullahs’ rule.

In Isfahan, Resistance Units posted pictures of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi with the messages “The overthrow of the anti-humane enemy is inevitable”

In Mashhad, an image of Massoud Rajavi had the message “It is time to expand the Resistance Units.” An image of Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), was installed with the message: “The November uprising proved that the revolt of the rebellious youth continues.”

In Langrud, the Resistance Units installed posters of Maryam Rajavi with the message: “On the anniversary of the uprising, the children of Iran will be on the maximum offensive.”

In Zanjan, a poster of Maryam Rajavi read, “The people of Iran are determined to overthrow the mullahs’ regime and to establish a democratic republic.”

In Chalus, a poster of Massoud Rajavi had the message, “The blood of the martyrs of the November uprising is alive.” Similar activities were seen in prominent areas of the cities of Shahrud.

In Tabriz, a poster with the photos of the martyrs of the November 2019 uprising read, “Honoring the movement of the Iranian people, from the 2019 uprising to the spring of the democratic revolution.”

In Tehran, one of the Resistance Units members held a placard with the image of Maryam Rajavi and the message: “Today, the brilliant role of women can be seen across Iran.”

Another placard read, “The brave girls and women are the main force for change at the forefront of the uprisings.”

In Isfahan, Resistance Units held placards with the image of Maryam Rajavi and the message: “The democratic revolution of Iran will be victorious and the mullahs’ regime will be swept from Iran.”

In Nowshahr, the Resistance Units held a poster of Maryam Rajavi with the message: “The November uprising proved that the revolt of the rebellious youth continues.” Similar protests were seen in other cities, including Behshahr, Sari, Shahriar, and Qazvin.

In 2019, the regime quelled the protests through sheer brutality. But the root causes of the uprising remained, which flared up again in 2022 after the murder of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini by the regime’s so-called morality police. Following her death, anti-regime protests erupted in more than 190 cities and continued for several months, bringing the regime closer to its downfall. Again, the regime only managed to survive through brutal suppression.

Today, the regime is terrified of its diminishing power to contain another round of protests, which will happen sooner or later. The regime is trying to leverage different excuses, including the ongoing war in Gaza, to divert attention from its crises and the intensifying restiveness of the Iranian society.

But at every corner, the regime’s tactics are met with the efforts of the Resistance Units.
