PMOI Resistance Units intensify anti-regime efforts in Zahedan amid rising executions

In Zahedan, a city marked by its historical resistance against authoritarian rule of both the shah and mullahs’ regimes, PMOI Resistance Units have ramped up their activities against the current Iranian regime, emphasizing a continued commitment to dismantle all forms of dictatorship. These developments have unfolded with a surge of actions with placards that contain revolutionary slogans for the overthrow of the regime and the establishment of democracy in Iran.

The slogans carried by these materials are resonant, ranging from calls for the downfall of oppressors across Iran to a categorical rejection of both past and present forms of autocratic governance. Quotes such as “From Zahedan to Tehran, down with the oppressor, be it the shah or the mullahs” and “From Zahedan to Tehran, the key to progress and victory is resistance” underline the broad geographical and ideological scope of the resistance efforts. These statements echo through the streets of Zahedan and are aimed at mobilizing the populace from the southeast to the capital.

The resistance movement is also vocal about the ongoing repressive measures, including a significant increase in executions which they argue signify Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s fear of a popular uprising. Notably, the execution of 19 individuals in Baluchestan in a single day has been highlighted as indicative of the regime’s brutality under the leadership of the recently appointed President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is ironically branded as a “reformist.”

Moreover, the PMOI Resistance Units are critical of the regime’s narrative and propaganda efforts, asserting that neither the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) nor state propagandists are able to effectively counteract the growing discontent among the Iranian people. They maintain that “The tyranny of the shah and mullahs can’t be whitewashed” and affirm a resolute “No to shah and mullahs, Khamenei’s rule is coming to an end.”

Further compounding the regime’s challenges are its regional setbacks, including the downfall of the Assad dictatorship in Sira, which, according to the resistance, “pave the way for more uprisings and the regime’s overthrow.” The movement also points to external military engagements, claiming that “Khamenei and IRGC were crushed under the feet of the people of Syria,” highlighting a perceived weakening of the regime’s influence abroad.

At the core of their message, the Resistance Units argue that the only effective method to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear capabilities is through a complete regime change, led by the Iranian people and supported by their resistance movement. The slogan “Woman Resistance Freedom” encapsulates a broader call for rights and liberties, resonating particularly in the context of Iran’s ongoing women-led protests and movements.

As these activities continue, the slogans from Zahedan to Tehran paint a picture of a population increasingly united in their quest for freedom and justice, undeterred by the escalating crackdowns and inspired by a vision of a post-dictatorial Iran.
