July 25, 2018 – Following US President Donald Trump’s all-caps tweet that has senior Iranian regime officials extremely concerned, US Secretary of Defense James Mattis’ recent remarks defended Trump’s words and sent Tehran yet another stark warning.
Trump is specifically “making clear that Iran is on the wrong track,’’ especially considering the “destabilizing influence that Iran has consistently portrayed and demonstrated throughout the region,” Mattis highlighted.
Mattis, speaking to reporters alongside Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at the end of bilateral talks with their Australian counterparts at Stanford’s Hoover Institution, was asked regarding Trump’s tweet aimed at Tehran, pledging in capital letters that Iran would “suffer the consequences the likes of which few throughout history have ever suffered before.’’
The Defense Secretary also provided a long slate of examples of Iran’s misbehavior, noting that “the only reason that the murderer [Syrian president Bashar-Al] Assad is still in power is that Iran has stuck by him … and funded him.’’ He added that "we see the same kind of malfeasance down in Yemen, where they’re fomenting more violence. We’ve seen their disruptive capabilities demonstrated’’ repeatedly.
Mattis added, “It’s time for Iran to shape up and show responsibility,’’ and not continue a role “as a revolutionary organization that is intent on exporting terrorism, exporting disruption across the region.”
Quite interesting is also the fact that the Iranian regime’s warmongering goes significantly unnoticed.
"US military bases are in Iran's defensive power reach. Don't play with a lion's tale," said Gen. Mohammad Bagheri, chief of staff of Iran's armed forces, according to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards-affiliated Fars news agency.
Iran’s Kayhan daily, known as the mouthpiece of Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, also ran a piece citing the spokesman of the Iran-sponsored Houthi militias saying, “The missiles are on their way. Evacuate Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Riyadh.”
Recent developments are proving once again how this regime only understands a firm policy and has for far too long taken advantage of the West’s appeasement. The Iranian people have been the first victims and recent protests are rattling the regime to its core.
