Iran coronavirus update: Over 446,200 deaths, black fungus spreading across the country

Iran, October 2, 2021—Over 446,200 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Saturday afternoon local time, October 2. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 120,880 around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 104,576 in Tehran, 36,655 in Razavi Khorasan, 29,910 in Isfahan, 27,355 in Khuzestan, 16,109 in Fars, 16,008 in West Azerbaijan, 15,753 in East Azerbaijan, 15,620 in Gilan, 13,068 in Alborz, 12,690 in Sistan & Baluchistan, 12,245 in Qom, 11,817 in Kerman, 8029 in Kermanshah, 7373 in Yazd, 6090 in Semnan, 5504 in Bushehr, 5734 in North Khorasan, 4974 in Qazvin, 3876 in South Khorasan, and 3395 in Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Saturday as 217 deaths and 10,135 new cases, of which 1673 were hospitalized. Furthermore, 5802 patients are in ICUs.

“Currently we have more than 120 coronavirus patients in [Tehran’s] Khomeini Hospital who are also suffering from black fungus. In the meantime, around 380 coronavirus patients are hospitalized in this facility. Among coronavirus patients those having black fungus can see their conditions deteriorate. Some studies show the death rate among coronavirus patients suffering from black fungus being between 60 to 70 percent,” said a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Saturday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“During the past 24 hours 500 new coronavirus patients have been identified, indicating a 126-person increase in comparison to the day before,” said the dean of Qazvin Medical Sciences University on Saturday while reporting a 34 percent rise in confirmed Covid-19 across the province, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

“Currently we have 1769 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 312 are in ICUs across the province. Furthermore, 53 people are under ventilators due to their breathing difficulties. During the past 24 hours 14 people have died of coronavirus,” said the dean of West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the Tasnim news agency.

 

 

“We are concerned. If the vaccination pace is not accelerated, we will be facing a new peak in the next month,” said the Ahvaz Health Council secretary on Saturday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Currently we have 1094 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 217 are in ICUs and 40 are in dire conditions. Furthermore, during the past 24 hours 491 people have been temporarily hospitalized and received Remdesivir medication,” according to a statement released on Saturday by the Kermanshah Medical Sciences University.

“During the past 24 hours we have registered 415 confirmed coronavirus cases, of which 319 have been hospitalized. Current we have 2009 coronavirus patients hospitalized across Isfahan province, of which 312 are in ICUs. During the past 24 hours 28 people have lost their lives to Covid-19,” according to a statement released on Saturday by the Isfahan Medical Sciences University.

“313 new patients in the past 24 hours have been hospitalized across [Fars] province. Currently we have 2084 patients hospitalized, of which 223 are in ICUs,” said the deputy dean of Shiraz Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“The black fungus illness has been spreading across the country recently and entered [Kurdistan] province from early September. To this day we have identified 27 patients who have died of this illness,” said the deputy dean of Kurdistan Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the regime’s official IRIB news agency.

“During the past 24 hours we have registered 130 new positive coronavirus cases across the province,” said the dean of Ilam Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the Tasnim news agency.
