Head of the regime’s Majlis (parliament) Health Commission had startling remarks today about the delay in purchasing Covid-19 vaccines. “Every two minutes another person loses their life to coronavirus. The record number of deaths are broken with each passing day. Negligence has placed our country among those with the highest coronavirus death tolls. Officials in state media stood before TV cameras and described the import of foreign vaccines as western conspiracy that intends to overthrow the country’s foundation and society and endanger the public’s health. They even said the following regarding foreign vaccines: What guarantee is there that the U.S. won’t be sending paralyzing vaccines to us, leaving our people facing many issues in the future? 30 trillion rials (around $107 million) was the budget provided to the relevant entity for making domestic vaccines. At the end of the day, they provided a vaccine by the name of Barekat to the people that, unfortunately, we still don’t know the exact impact of. Currently, the most basic medical needs include an IV fluid, which has become equal to gold in value in our country… Have you not heard the cries of a mother in Sistan & Baluchistan province who was weeping over her child’s grave and screaming my child died due to lack of oxygen?… Millions of dollars were spent on 60 million vaccines from Russia and only 900,000 doses have arrived, and even that was placed at the disposal of the privileged few. Was this also the West’s conspiracy? Now we must wait for the next coronavirus that will most definitely drown the country in a large number of deaths,” he said on Wednesday, according to the state-run Mardom Salari daily.

“9620 coronavirus patients are hospitalized, of which 2450 are in ICUs. 1800 patients were hospitalized in the past 24 hours, of which 243 were transferred to ICUs,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Wednesday, according to the regime’s official IRIB news agency.

“Conditions in Beheshte Zahra Cemetery are critical and unimaginable. Coronavirus doesn’t recognize any age difference. For the fifth time in the past few months the Beheshte Zahra Cemetery is experiencing critical conditions,” said the director of Tehran’s renowned cemetery on Wednesday, according to the Fars news agency, an outlet linked to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

“During the past 24 hours 53 people have lost their lives due to coronavirus. Such a figure is unprecedented in Gilan province,” said the deputy dean of Gilan Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“To this day 20 cases of black fungus have been registered in [Mazandaran] province. During the past 24 hours 28 patients have lost their lives to coronavirus,” according to a Wednesday statement released by the Mazandaran Medical Sciences University.

Director of the Center of Incidents and Medical Emergencies in Isfahan province said during the past two weeks the number of their emergency cases have increased by 150 percent. “Hospitals have run out of empty beds and ambulances have to wait at the hospital entrance or the emergency branch until their patients are allowed to enter the facility,” this official added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“3620 patients are hospitalized across Isfahan province. During the past 24 hours 45 patients lost their lives,” said the spokesperson of Isfahan Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the state-run IMNA news agency.

“Each day 80 to 100 more patients are hospitalized in comparison to those released. For example, if each day 160 patients are released, we have another 260 new patients hospitalized. Around 500 to 600 patients are in ICUs, of which 120 are under ventilators and in critical conditions,” said the governor of Khuzestan province on Wednesday, according to the IRGC Quds Force-linked Tasnim news agency.

“Some of the patients lose their lives less than one day after they have been hospitalized. Each day we have 60 to 70 people lose their lives to Covid-19,” according to a statement released by the Khuzestan Covid-19 Task Force on Wednesday.

“During the past 24 hours 30 coronavirus patients have lost their lives. Currently we have 1964 patients hospitalized, of which 295 are in ICUs and 73 are under ventilators,” said the dean of West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the Mehr news agency.

“The highest number of coronavirus deaths and new cases in this province were registered from July 23 to August 22. The number of deaths during the period were recorded at over 340. This indicates a 250 percent increase in comparison to the previous 30-day period,” said the deputy dean of Bushehr Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the regime’s official IRIB news agency.
