“Due to negligence and maybe lack of will in some officials, the fifth coronavirus wave was able elevate our country to a relative first in regard to lives lost and new cases. As if this were the objective for us to suffer the most damage. The blows we have received from mismanagement are unprecedented,” said a member of the regime’s Majlis (parliament) from Tehran on Saturday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The Covid death toll in the city of Tehran during the fifth peak has seen a 200 to 250 percent increase. Around 40 percent of those who have lost their lives have been in Tehran. 216 coronavirus deaths in one day is unprecedented, even during the [1980s Iran-Iraq war],” said the director of Tehran’s Beheshte Zahra Cemetery on Friday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“During the first wave the highest number of deaths registered in one day in Tehran’s Beheshte Zahra cemetery was 119; 116 in the second wave; 173 in the third wave; 156 in the fourth wave and 216 in the fifth wave. Such difficult days in the city of Tehran and Beheshte Zahra Cemetery will continue,” according to a Friday reported wired by the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“During the past 24 hours we have hospitalized 523 patients and released 392. There are currently 3543 patients hospitalized in this province, of which 456 are in ICUs. During the past 24 hours we have lost 46 patients,” said the spokesperson of Isfahan Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the Mehr news agency.

“During the past 24 hours we have lost 32 people, setting a new coronavirus record for [Alborz province]. Currently there are 1438 coronavirus patients hospitalized,” according to a Saturday report wired by the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Since the beginning of the fifth wave 30 percent of the medical professionals in Fars province have contracted coronavirus. The numbers continue to rise and there is no sign of any decrease in the numbers of new cases, those hospitalized and dead. The number of people entering our hospitals and those being accepted into temporary medical centers are on the rise. The capacity of all our main hospitals have reached their limits. Currently we have 5318 patients hospitalized, of which 431 are in ICUs. During the past 24 hours we have lost 29 patients,” according to a Saturday statement released by the Shiraz Medical Sciences University.

“The number of people who have lost their lives in the past week has increased by 550 percent in comparison to the week before,” said the dean of Hormozgan Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the Mehr news agency.

Dean of the Qom Medical Sciences University said 936 coronavirus patients are hospitalized, of which 213 are in ICUs. During the past 24 hours the province has lost 25 patients to coronavirus, he added on Saturday, according to the state-run IMNA news agency.

“We continue to see a rising number of patients being hospitalized. The medical staff and our nurses are fatigued. Currently there are 2051 coronavirus patients hospitalized in Gilan province, and the number of those hospitalized per day remains in three digits,” said the deputy dean of Gilan Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the Mehr news agency.

“There are no available beds for coronavirus patients in [West Azerbaijan] province and there is immense pressure on the medical centers and staff. The numbers of patients hospitalized in medical centers, ICU branches and those under ventilators are rising exponentially. Currently we have 1754 patients hospitalized, and during the past 24 hours 28 people have lost their lives,” said dean of West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University on Saturday.

“The status quo in Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari province is hyper-critical. Each day the number of patients is rising. This volume of people seeking medical care has had a severe impact on the medical staff and they may leave them unable to provide further care. The fact that 600 people dying of coronavirus each day across the country has yet to awaken some people. The fifth coronavirus wave has yet to reach its peak. Entering the next peak in such conditions already signals a massive catastrophe,” according to a Saturday piece wired by the Fars news agency, an outlet linked to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).
