Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, June 27, 2021—Over 318,500 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Sunday afternoon local time, June 27. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 83,845, around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 74,626 in Tehran, 21,490 in Isfahan, 20,146 in Khuzestan, 19,375 in Razavi Khorasan, 12,540 in Lorestan, 10,682 in Fars, 10,581 Gilan, 9073 in Alborz, 7601 in Sistan & Baluchistan, 7253 in Kerman, 6868 in Hamedan, 4620 in Hormozgan, 3414 in Bushehr, 2615 in Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Sunday as 134 deaths and 9758 new cases, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency. Furthermore, 3190 patients are in ICUs and 1093 of the new cases have been hospitalized.

“During the past week, the number patients seeking initial medical care and testing positive has increased by four percent in comparison to last week,” the regime’s Health Ministry spokesperson said on Sunday. In the past week, the provinces of Ilam, Kerman, Hormozgan, Bushehr and Yazd have had the highest number of people hospitalized for coronavirus, and the provinces of Bushehr, Sistan & Baluchistan and Hormozgan have had the highest death toll,” she added, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“When we are registering more than 10,000 new coronavirus patients each day, and the number of deaths is above 100 per day, it means the virus is spreading. Considering the increase in the number of cities and towns registered as red zones, the alarm bell of a fifth peak has now sounded. The scenario of the fourth peak may be repeated with the Delta variant,” a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Sunday, according to the Javan daily, an outlet affiliated to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

“General vaccination and free vaccines for foreigners in Armenia, the UAE and Russia, and considering the slow vaccination process in Iran and various vaccines not being available, and a vaccine black market establishing with doses selling at 250 to 600 million rials ($1,012 to $2,429) in Tehran, have all encouraged some to head to these countries for the vaccine,” according to a Sunday report in the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“In the city of Tehran, we are facing a slow increase in the number of people seeking initial medical care for Covid-19 symptoms. Most cases are of the Indian variant, and we may witness the fifth peak beginning in mid-July,” said a senior health official in Tehran on Sunday, according to Javan daily.

“In the past few days, the record numbers of new cases and deaths per day have been breaking. Conditions are out of control,” said the dean of Zahedan Medical Sciences University on Sunday. “During the past 24 hours we have seen 19 people lost their lives,” this official added.

“Coronavirus continues to be extremely infectious and take its victims. The number of new patients entering is beyond the hospital’s capacity,” said the head of Ali ebn Abitaleb Hospital in Zahedan on Sunday, according to the IRGC Quds Force affiliated Tasnim news agency.

“The hospitals and beds that we had prepared have been filled, and we are forced to use other branches for coronavirus patients. If the Indian variant begins to spread in [Sistan & Baluchistan] province it will engulf the entire country,” said the deputy governor of Sistan & Baluchistan province on Sunday, according to the Tasnim news agency.

“Unfortunately, we are facing an increasing trend of coronavirus cases. Eleven cities of Isfahan province are registered as orange zones and 12 are yellow zones. None of the cities and towns in this province are blue or white zone areas,” said the spokesperson of Isfahan Medical Sciences University on Sunday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“We are seeing an increase in the number of new cases and those hospitalized for coronavirus since last week. Currently 60 percent of our cities and towns are red zones and the rest are orange areas, indicating the fifth peak has initiated,” said governor of Bushehr province on Sunday, according to the Tasnim news agency.

“It appears the government is determined to sell the Iranian vaccine to the general public. Iran would be the first country in the world to be selling the coronavirus vaccine to its people. As of now there is a brouhaha about the pricing of this vaccine,” according to a Sunday piece published in the state-run Arman-e Melli daily.
