While the Covid-19 crisis in Iran gains momentum each day in the shadow of the regime’s criminal and plundering policies, regime President Hassan Rouhani expressed his disappointment over a disingenuous vaccine. “The Iranian vaccine will most likely not be available prior to the summer season. Therefore, procuring the vaccine with the help of the private sector has been in the government’s agenda and of the utmost priority,” he said on Thursday. “Crisis management must be carried out while maintaining calm. We shouldn’t create a sense of mayhem with wrong opinions, unbased reports and strongly worded remarks,” Rouhani added.

“I was really hopeful that general vaccination would be finalized by October or November. However, it does not seem that we will be able to finalize vaccination by September 2022,” said a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Thursday. “I hope our officials will be able to procure more foreign vaccines. Vaccination must be among the utmost priorities and be it this administration or the next, they must have a clear agenda for vaccination,” this official added, according to the state-run Khabar Online website.

There has been a significant dispute fuming between Rouhani and his Health Minister Saied Namaki. “If the minister thinks his remarks go neglected, why has he remained in his post? And if the president thinks his minister talks the talk but does not walk the walk, why doesn’t he replace him? The conditions that people are seeing is not two voices but no voice at all from the administration in procuring the vaccine,” according to one piece published in the state-run Ebtekar daily on Thursday.

“Next week we will be facing a wave of people seeking medical care with Covid-19 symptoms and it will be the most difficult period to manage in the past 14 months of this pandemic,” Namaki said on Thursday. “Today we are facing a massive wave of the mutated strain which is very diligent and is spreading across the country. Resorting to politics is a sedition and there are parties who wish to tarnish the image of the government, the leader’s office and the entire Islamic Republic,” he added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“In the capital Tehran and for the first time all cities and towns in Tehran province are registered as red zones. The illness is spreading in all areas. The provinces of Alborz and then Gilan have the highest increase in this illness,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Thursday. “Therefore, interconnections and commuting between the provinces of Tehran and Alborz can be the most important element behind the increase in the number of new cases in the capital. The most important issue, alongside hospital beds, is procuring oxygen, being one of the most important necessities in our efforts to provide treatment,” he added, according to the state-run Shafaqna news agency.

Minoo Mohraz, a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force, described the coronavirus conditions of Tehran as catastrophic. “The number of new cases is horrifically high and there are no beds for the new patients. To surpass these circumstances, we need to impose at least five to seven days of complete lockdown, and people should not need to do any commuting by using the metro or bus system,” she said on Thursday, according to the state-run Doniyaye Ma’dan newspaper.

“With the start of the fourth coronavirus peak we are witnessing a 500 percent increase in Covid-19 related cases. People’s calls asking for coronavirus advice have increased by 700 percent in comparison to early March,” said a senior Tehran province health official on Wednesday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

The spokesperson for the Isfahan Medical Sciences University said on Thursday that 2162 coronavirus patients are hospitalized in centers covered by this university, of which 313 are in ICUs. In the past 24 hours 23 patients have lost their lives to Covid-19 in these hospitals, this official added, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“During the past 24 hours we have hospitalized 221 new coronavirus patients. Currently we have 1050 Covid-19 patients across Gilan province, of which 124 are in dire conditions,” said the deputy dean of Gilan Medical Sciences University on Thursday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“We are witnessing the mutated Covid-19 strain spreading rapidly. In the next few days, we may reach full capacity in our hospitals and no longer be able to accept new patients because despite all the more beds we add, it is still very limited,” said the governor of Bushehr province on Thursday, according to the Mehr news agency.

“The current capacity of the coronavirus branch in Vali Asr Hospital has reached its limit. The number of people seeking medical care for Covid-19 symptoms and those who are hospitalized in this fourth wave has multiplied in comparison to the previous month,” said the head of this hospital in South Khorasan province on Thursday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“In the past 24 hours 777 new patients in this province have been identified, 126 were hospitalized and ten lost their lives due to confirmed Covid-19 symptoms,” according to a statement released by the Qazvin Medical Sciences University on Thursday.
