“The mutated virus has been identified in 28 provinces and is expanding,” said the spokesperson of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Saturday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

All the while, regime President Hassan Rouhani has resorted to more lies, claiming all provinces are reporting good conditions and there are only portions of Khuzestan province that are in poor circumstances. Rouhani, seeking to once again blame the people for the Covid-19 epidemic in Iran, warned against Nowruz (Iranian calendar New Year on March 20) visits and travelling. “The threat of a fourth wave truly exists… If, for example, the number of vaccine doses is increased in a few months and a large number of people inject the virus, and we see that it has been effective, then we can say we can decrease the restricting measures. Right now, however, during the current conditions it is very dangerous, especially considering the Nowruz period,” he added. His remarks indicate the regime has no plans or prospects for general vaccination.

“We are extremely behind in vaccination… These measures must be implemented very fast and in a high volume in order to prevent the mutations that can disrupt our vaccination plans,” said a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Saturday. “I work in a hospital taking samples of this virus every day. I have not received the vaccine yet, indicating we have not imported enough doses of the vaccine and our plans have truly failed,” this official added, according to the state-run Farhikhtegan website.

“Currently we have 790 patients in ICUs across Tehran province… The increase in the number of Covid-19 cases among the youth is most definitely due to the UK strain. The ratio of cases hospitalized among the 5-17 age group has risen from 0.8 in March of last year to 11 percent today,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Saturday, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

While health officials in Khuzestan province are reporting 199 coronavirus deaths last week alone, officials of Ilam and Isfahan provinces are extremely concerned about more youths contracting this illness. In Hormozgan and Golestan province there are reports of more Covid-19 cases, and an increasing number of people being hospitalized and placed in ICUs.
