“We should anticipate more people seeking medical care in the coming two weeks… To this day 350 confirmed cases of the UK strain have been discovered, which is the tip of the iceberg,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Monday. “In Tehran province the third wave lasted longer than the first and second waves and impacted a wider area. Most certainly if a fourth wave begins, we will see more people seeking medical treatment,” he added, according to the official IRIB news agency.
“Most of the medical infrastructure of many provinces have been engulfed. Medical teams in some provinces, including Gilan, Golestan and Mazandaran have been badly hurt in the past year… Trips during the Nowruz (Iranian calendar New Year on March) can be catastrophic,” Zali continued, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“Unfortunately, despite the fact that we have increased the number of beds and taken other measures, the number of people seeking medical care has been increasing and we are facing a shortage in beds and nurses,” said the deputy dean of Ahvaz Medical Sciences University on Monday. “Considering the shortage in beds, non-coronavirus patients are being transferred so beds are emptied for other patients,” this official added, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.
“Most of the Covid-19 patients are in need of ICU care but we have a limited capacity in this regard. People need to be careful and not contract the virus because hospitals in Khuzestan cannot accept many Covid-19 patients,” said the dean of Behbahan Medical School on Sunday, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

“During the past few days, the number of children with Covid-19 symptoms has been on the rise. Currently we have 25 children hospitalized with coronavirus symptoms, of which four are newborns,” said the head of the Hazrat-e Masoumeh Hospital in Qom on Sunday, according to the state-run Khabar Fouri website.
The spokesperson of the Yazd Medical Sciences University said on Sunday that 18 confirmed cases of the UK strain have been identified. “Currently we have 135 patients hospitalized for coronavirus, 35 of which are in dire conditions and in ICUs,” this official added, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.
“The total number of coronavirus patients currently stands at 488, of which 148 are in ICUs and 33 are breathing with ventilators,” said the dean of West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.
The state-run Arman newspaper wrote on Monday: “Considering the country’s population of around 80 million, at least 800,000 people need to be vaccinated to include one percent of the population. According to the Health Ministry, to this day 570,000 doses of the vaccine have been imported that have been used for 258,000 people. Even if in the next two weeks twice this number of vaccine doses are imported, we still will not reach the 800,000 mark. A country like the United Arab Emirates has vaccinated 65 percent of its population. Turkey has vaccinated ten percent of its population. And while Iran is entering its fourth peak, the number of Covid-19 deaths is on the rise.”
