“Last week saw the highest number of people reported being hospitalized in the provinces of Ilam, Semnan, Ardabil, Yasuj and Yazd. The stats from these provinces were far higher than the country’s average,” said the spokesperson for the regime’s Health Ministry on Thursday. “This week the highest number of deaths were reported in the provinces of Yazd, Kurdistan, Ardabil and South Khorasan. Despite the decreasing number of red cities and the relative decrease in the number of deaths and people being hospitalized due to coronavirus in the past week, the numbers of people being hospitalized in some provinces, such as Gilan, Mazandaran and Golestan are rising. Despite the relative improvement across the country, the status quo remains sensitive and fragile. We are concerned that negligence and normalization will result to a new wave of this illness,” she added, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“The situation in Tehran is concerning and fragile. Why? For now, the high number of people using the metros and public transportation services cannot be resolved. Whatever measures we take we are still having problems,” said Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi on Wednesday. “Right now, our main concern is the cold season. Everyone thinks the solution now is to lift the coronavirus restrictions. Whenever we wish to increase these restrictions, everyone says the country’s economy will be ruined. We are now relating everything to Covid-19. That is fine. However, when we want to impose a certain restriction, we are told that it will impact the economy,” he added, according to state TV.

“In Tehran, in the past few days we have been witnessing a significant increase in inner-city commuting. In the past 48 hours alone, we have seen a 135 percent increase, especially in downtown areas,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Wednesday. “In comparison to the same period last year prior to Covid-19 we have seen a six-percent increase in inner city commuting. This is overly concerning. Such high commuting in the coming weeks will result in a new wave of illness,” he added, according to state TV.

“In the past nine months on some days the number of people dying in Tehran would near the 400 mark, be it of Covid-19 or other reasons,” said the director of Tehran’s famous Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery on Friday. “The year before we had an average of 150 to 170 deaths per day in this cemetery. From the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic around 22,000 people dying of Covid-19 have been buried in Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery,” the official added, according to the state-controlled Hamshahri daily.

“During the past 24 hours we have lost 33 coronavirus patients and the total number of Covid-19 deaths has reached 2750 in [Fars province]. There are currently 307 coronavirus patients in ICUs,” said the deputy dean of Shiraz Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“The city of Amol is among the country’s worst hit areas when it comes to Covid-19. This city is witnessing critical conditions and if the number of people contracting this virus remains, as we are witnessing today, a return to normal conditions will be very difficult,” said the spokesperson of Mazandaran Covid-19 Task Force on Wednesday. “The number of people hospitalized for Covid-19 in Amol have increased by more than ten percent. The number of people identified to have suspicious Covid-19 symptoms has increased from 100 to 120 per day,” the official added, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.
