“My first concern is being caught off-guard by this virus back in March and April. That bad memory always comes back that we let go of everything and became engulfed. If we act as if everything is normal again, we will be having a far more difficult winter than the fall season,” said Health Minister Saeed Namaki on Sunday. “This virus is dangerous and complicated, and it is always waiting to score against us in the last minute. We have more concerns in several provinces. The first is Tehran province. Last night reports from our colleagues were aired on state TV that reminded us of the March and April conditions where we had reached a daily death rate of 30 coronavirus patients. We had loosened up again at that point. We are also concerned of the northern provinces. In the previous peak most of the troubles were witnessed in the major cities of our northern provinces. Unfortunately, the virus reached the villages and hilltops. In our southern provinces, we are concerned again of an increase in the number of new cases considering the fact that the weather is becoming colder and the densely populated areas,” he added, according to the semi-official ILNA news agency.

“We were concerned about imposing fines and punishments, leading to public dissent. All our efforts in the National Covid-19 Task Force were focused on refraining from measures that would raise public anger. People have enough problems already from this dilemma,” said Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli on Sunday, according to state TV.

“In the past week we had around 22,000 people hospitalized and 3,700 deaths,” said the spokesperson of the National Covid-19 Task Force, according to state TV.

“We have not even been able to control the epidemic let alone break the chain reaction of its expansion,” said Hamid Souri, a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Sunday, according to the regime’s Khabar Fouri website.

“Around 40,000 nurses across the country have contracted Covid-19 and are now in quarantine. With their loss pressure on the remaining nurses has increased significantly,” said Maryam Hazrati, deputy of nursing affairs in the regime’s Health Minister on Monday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“In our northern provinces we have grave concerns about the spread of Covid-19 and in contrast to the country average the virus is spreading in Gilan province,” said the spokesperson of the Health Ministry on Monday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

In Khuzestan province the dean of Jondi Shapour Medical Sciences University in the city of Ahvaz said 50 percent of ICU beds are occupied. “We are concerned of the coming winter season. We hope the virus’ chain reaction is broken so we do not witness a new peak in the winter,” the official said on Monday, according to the ISNA news agency.

“301 patients with Covid-19 symptoms are hospitalized right now, of which 61 are in dire conditions. In the past 24 hours we have love ten patients who tested positive for Covid-19,” said the dean of Qom Medical Sciences University on Sunday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).
