“There are various remarks regarding the stats. Some increase in numbers could be due to chronic illnesses, including heart disease. However, people can get the numbers from the cemeteries and maybe on some days that the numbers are high, the general number of deaths, and suspected and possible daily Covid-19 deaths could reach four digits,” said the spokesperson for the regime’s Health Ministry on Wednesday. “We do not announce the number of possible or suspicious cases on a daily basis. The number of confirmed cases based on PCR tests are most likely higher. We are not seeking to hide any stats and with each passing day the precision in our stats increase. Around 50 percent of our Covid-19 patients hospitalized in ICUs are dying. Four of every 10,000 cases are contracting the virus for a second time,” she added, according to the regime’s official IRNA news agency.

Two months after the third peak in Iran regime President Hassan Rouhani eventually agreed with some semi-quarantine measure. “Fifty one percent of those contracting the virus are due to family commuting,” he said in a blatant lie on Wednesday. “We don’t have any problems regarding hospital equipment or supplies. We are under no pressure regarding hospital beds, ICUs and ventilators. However, our medical professionals have been working day and night for nine months now. These measures are aimed at providing us a window of opportunity to replenish their strength and people to feel that there is a serious threat,” he added. “One third of our society will be receiving 1 million rials each month (equaling to less than $4). A ten million rial ($39) loan is also allocated to these families,” Rouhani concluded in his insulting remarks.

In Wednesday’s Majlis (parliament) session, Mohammad Reza Sabaghian, MP from Bafgh, Yazd province, said, “Today, not only the Majlis is not leading things, but is at the tail of all decisions. The Supreme Security Council makes whatever decision it wants, the government circumvents the Majlis, and the Covid-19 Task Force decides for the entire country and the Majlis. It is a shortcoming of the Majlis that it has no representative in the Covid-19 Task Force. Today, all that is left of the Majlis is its name, a building, and 290 MPs. When we elected [Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf] as the Speaker, we stipulated that the Majlis is dead.”

The semi-official ISNA news agency quoted the head of the infectious diseases department of Tehran’s Masih Daneshvari hospital as saying on Wednesday, “Since the beginning of the third peak, the numbers have constantly been growing. We expected these figures to gradually decrease, but that hasn’t happened yet, and this shows that the disease’s contagion cycle has become very active. We’re all witnessing the noose of Covid-19 closing in tighter than ever and quickly spready across the society.”

The spokesperson for Isfahan Medical Sciences University confirmed on Tuesday that, aside from Kashan Aran and Bidgol counties, there are 2,044 hospitalized coronavirus patients in the province, according to Javan Daily, a newspaper affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). There are 397 patients in ICU, the spokesperson added, and 37 people have died of coronavirus in the province in the past 24 hours.

The dean of West Azarbaijan Medical Sciences University said on Wednesday, “In the past 24 hours, we have unfortunately identified 267 new coronavirus cases in the province. Twenty-seven patients have lost their lives during the same period… There are 307 patients in ICU, 88 of which are on ventilator support.” (Source: Javan Daily, November 18)

The spokesperson of Yazd Medical Sciences University confirmed 19 Covid-19 deaths on Wednesday, according to ISNA. “There are currently 1,086 hospitalized patients in the province, and 214 of them are in ICU,” the spokesperson added.
