Over 12,400 dead of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Iran
The death toll declared by the regime is around 2,300, less than a fifth of the real number of victims. Unlike other countries, Iran’s coronavirus outbreak has been marked by regime secrecy since its outset.
The official ILNA news agency reported that Qazvin’s Velayat hospital had been dealing with COVID-19 patients two full weeks before the regime acknowledged the start of the epidemic with two deaths in Qom.
Other reports indicate that the conditions in Iran’s prisons are especially dire, and many inmates have contracted the dangerous virus. Six prisoners died in the Greater Tehran Prison. The abysmal hygienic and humanitarian conditions have caused protests in several prisons.
