Over 502,200 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Wednesday afternoon local time, February 2. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 132,563, around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 117,235 in Tehran, 40,405 in Razavi Khorasan, 34,840 in Isfahan, 30,265, 18,933 in West Azerbaijan, 19,050 in Fars, 18,210 in Mazandaran, 17,363 in East Azerbaijan, 14,628 in Alborz, 13,855 in Sistan & Baluchistan, 13,562 in Kerman, 9178 in Markazi (Central), 8345 in Hormozgan, 8267 in Kurdistan, 6453 in North Khorasan, 5914 in Qazvin, and 4803 in Ilam. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Wednesday as 38,160, indicating a 300 percent rise in comparison to last week.

“The number of omicron patients is far higher than the figures being announced, and it is possible that in the coming weeks each day we will have up 100,000 new cases,” said Ebrahim Ghaderi, head of the Health Ministry’s Infectious Diseases Center on Tuesday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

The novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, has taken the lives of over 502,200 people throughout Iran, according to the Iranian opposition PMOI/MEK

“The number of people seeking initial medical care in Iran has quadrupled,” said Deputy Health Minister Kamal Heydari on Wednesday, according to the state-run Tabnak website.

“Considering the increasing number of red cities and alarm bells sounding regarding the omicron pandemic, coronavirus restrictions should be imposed, including closing down schools, limiting holding scientific and cultural sessions, and gatherings,” said Masoud Mardani, a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Wednesday, according to the regime’s official IRNA news agency.

“While many Covid-19 experts are calling for the closing of schools, an Education Ministry deputy made strange remarks in placing a price on the students’ lives and saying if anyone contracts Covid-19 and dies we will pay 150 million rials ($530),” according to a piece published in the state-run Hamdeli newspaper.

“In Tehran, during the past few days we have witnessed a 78 percent rise in the number of people seeking medical care and a 61 percent rise in the number of patients being hospitalized,” said the governor of Tehran province on Wednesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

The number of children being hospitalized is 50 to 60 percent higher

This indicates we are heading towards a situation where children will be heavily involved,” said a member of the Iran Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the state-run Mardom-Salari newspaper.

“The sixth peak is flaring. In this peak we will have a large number of people contracting the virus and the illness load will be very high,” said the head of the ICU branch at Mashhad’s Imam Reza Hospital in Razavi Khorasan province on Wednesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Having 198 people hospitalized in the past 24 hours is concerning. The status quo in [Fars] province is becoming more critical by the minute. The cities of Shiraz, Zarghan, and Garash are registered as red zones,” said the caretaker of Shiraz Medical Sciences University on Wednesday.
