Iran: Despite utilizing all resources, after 12 days, regime’s radio and TV networks have not returned to a normal status

In total, more than 600 servers, advanced production utilities, distribution, and archiving equipment have been destroyed

Twelve days after the Iranian regime’s state radio and television networks were disrupted on January 27, during which significant parts of equipment, technical infrastructure, software, and archives were destroyed, the regime has not yet been able to repair the damage to its propaganda machine, replace the affected parts, and return everything back to normal, despite utilizing all resources.

According to Article 110 of the regime’s constitution, Khamenei, the regime’s supreme leader, oversees the state radio and television networks. After the interruption, he had ordered the channels and networks to be returned to normal before the “Fajr Decade” ceremonies (the ten days marking the anniversary of the 1979 revolution). However, the relevant departments have not been able to broadcast programs planned for the Fajr decade yet.

The regime’s security and intelligence services are making every effort to prevent the disclosure of the dimensions of the January 27 blow to the public. Still, the massive dimensions of the disruption of the radio and television networks are evident every day.

It is worth noting that this blow came at a time when the security department of the “Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB)” had held a maneuver a week before and was on full alert in view of the upcoming Fajr decade programs.

The status report on Monday night, February 7, is as follows:

  1. The National TV networks 1, 2, 3, and 4, and the networks of Health, Education, Quran, Sports, Tamasha, Pouya, and Shoma, which used to announce their daily programs 24 hours in advance, are still unable to do that, and the subtitling is still not working.
  2. The Jam-e Jam networks 1, 2, and 3, which were transmitting to Iranians and Persian-speakers of Europe, America, and Asia, each in their specific time zones, have stopped, and only one program is broadcast simultaneously.
  3. More than 600 servers, advanced digital production, archiving, and broadcasting of radio and television equipment have been destroyed, and their software has been damaged, including:
  • 43 dedicated servers for broadcasting TV programs (playouts)
  • 14 special subtitle units (CG)
  • 80 monitoring servers, playback, and subtitle controllers
  • 40 servers and storage units for large video and audio archives (SAN)
  • 50 radio broadcast playout systems
  • 30 monitoring devices and control servers, as well as radio networks databases.
  • 51 servers used for radio broadcasting
  • 12main TV channels’ FTP servers that act simultaneously as archives and provide the work ground for broadcast systems
  • 38 host compartments for server storage HP type
  • 37 devices of IRIB “comprehensive monitoring” system.
  • 118 other servers

The two attached graphics are classified documents. They show the television and radio networks and the general layout of the equipment, most of which were destroyed.
