“During the past week, the numbers of people hospitalized and/or the death toll in the provinces of Tehran, Kohgiluyeh & Boyer Ahmad, North Khorasan, Ilam, South Khorasan, Yazd, Kerman, Semnan, Mazandaran, Fars, Ardabil, Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari, East Azerbaijan, Razavi Khorasan, Hamedan, and Isfahan have increased in comparison to the national average,” according to a Friday report wired by the semi-official ISNA news agency.

While the head of the regime’s Food and Drug Organization said the import of foreign vaccines has been banned, the Javan news agency, affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), reported that Astra Zeneca vaccines have been procured and provided to members of the regime’s Majlis (parliament).

“Today in the Majlis, employees, and MPs were able to receive coronavirus vaccines. However, why were Astra Zeneca vaccines available only in the Majlis, and procured only for MPs, while others were receiving other vaccines? At a time when Astra Zeneca vaccines cannot be found in Tehran, how is it being provided to MPs?” reads the Friday report wired by the Javan news agency.

“It is obvious that omicron is present inside Iran and is spreading across the country. However, our numbers of those who have contracted this variant are not accurate. It is not possible to provide accurate stats of those who have contracted this variant. If the number of people being hospitalized in one month sees a sudden rise, our health apparatus will not be able to provide medical care for a high number of patients and continue its efforts because our supplies and assets are only able to respond to normal circumstances,” said Alireza Oliaie-manesh, a member of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Friday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The highest number of omicron variants has been identified in the city of Bandar Abbas. Omicron has also been witnessed in the cities of Bandar Lengeh, Siri, Jask, Qeshm, Bandar Khamir, Bastak, and Hajiabad,” said the spokesperson of Hormozgan Medical Sciences University on Friday, according to the regime’s official IRIB news agency.

“Omicron has reached the city of Shahreza [in Isfahan province]”

There are currently 30 patients who have contracted omicron in this province,” said the head of the Shahreza Health Network on Friday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

During the past week, the number of people hospitalized has increased significantly, and the number of those hospitalized and the death toll in [North Khorasan] province has been higher than the national average. This province currently ranks second across the country, according to a report wired by the semi-official ISNA news agency.
