MEK Resistance Units: Iran tireless voice for freedom and democracy

Analysis by PMOI/MEK

Iran, April 14, 2021—For more than two-and-half years, non-stop and daily anti-regime activities continue across Iran. Banners, posters, and images with slogans targeting the regime’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei are installed in various cities that demand “regime change,” and call for the boycott of the mullahs’ upcoming sham presidential elections in June.

Following the December 2017 major anti-regime protests, these activities have increased, and many youths are joining the Iranian Resistance Units, a vast network of supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).

In recent days, the Resistance Units have been installing banners and posters of Iranian Resistance leaders in many cities and have taken to graffiti with anti-regime slogans that call for regime change and the boycott of the upcoming elections.

In Isfahan, and Shiraz posters of the Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi were installed with the slogan, “Our vote is for the overthrow of the mullahs’ regime and boycott of the sham elections.”

In Tehran, Mashhad, Isfahan, Shiraz, and Karaj, posters, and banners with images of Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) were installed. “The election boycott is a response to the killing of 1500 protesters in November 2019,” “The Iranian people’s nationwide boycott of this election is the flip side of popular uprisings,” “Democracy and freedom with Maryam Rajavi,” and “Yes to a democratic republic,” the posters read in part.

Also in various places of Tehran, Isfahan, Mashhad, Ilam, Shiraz, Karaj, Tonekabon, Qazvin, Yasuj, Torbate Jam, and Birjand, the Resistance Units took to graffiti and spread anti-regime slogans that read, “An uprising awaits the mullahs, and their end is near,” “Down with Khamenei, hail to freedom,” “My vote is for the overthrow of the mullahs’ regime and yes to a democratic republic,” “No to mullahs’ election, yes to freedom,” “I will not vote. Our vote is freedom and democracy,” and “Boycotting the election sham is a patriotic duty.”

The continued daily activities across Iran highlight the organizing capability of the MEK and its leading role in protests and uprisings. These brave activities are aimed to break the atmosphere of fear and repression the regime tries to impose with the execution and arrests of political activists. The MEK’s Resistance Units have proven to be the tireless voice for freedom and democracy inside Iran.

The regime punishes support for the MEK with heavy sentences and has recently condemned many MEK supporters to long prison terms.
