Iran, July 25, 2019 – Months after the flash floods devastated many Iranian cities, according to state-run news agencies, the disaster-stricken cities are much like a warzone.
“It has been three months since the devastating flood struck Lorestan province, leaving numerous dead and wounded and affecting the lives of millions of people. The truth is the flood’s consequences and impact are much more painful than the flood itself. The flooded cities are more like warzones. The cluttered situation of the city of Poledokhtar pictures a warzone. Destruction after destruction, like the destruction of the 2017 earthquake in Kermansah, which has not been amended after several years,” reported the state-run Hamdeli news agency.
In addition, state-run agencies warn of environmental consequences: neglecting the “environmental situation” in Iran, has cost $8.5 billion in economic damages for the country and caused cancer, skin and respiratory diseases for the Iranian people.
