Resistance Units: Maryam Rajavi, voice of justice and freedom for Iran’s people

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, June 27, 2020—The activities of the Iranian Resistance Units, the internal network of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), continued between June 26 and June 24 across the country. They organized activities in Tehran, Karaj, Hashtpar (Gilan), Bushehr, Qom, Dorud, Rudsar, Semnan, Rasht, Kermanshah, Massouleh and Sarbandar calling for regime change.

Resistance Unit members bravely posted banners and took to graffiti in public areas, writing messages of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi and NCRI president Maryam Rajavi with the slogans “Down with the principle of the Supreme Leader’s rule,” “The mullahs’ dictatorship is reaching its end; we will take back Iran,” “We will overthrow the criminal regime,” “Down with Khamenei, Viva Rajavi,” “Democracy and freedom with Maryam Rajavi,” and “Maryam Rajavi is the voice of justice and freedom for the Iranian people.”

On June 25, the defiant and rebellious youths torched a Center of spread of fundamentalism in Qom, a holy city between Tehran and Isfahan.

Background

Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi based his strategy on “resistance units” inside Iran, with the objective of establishing units inside the society and forming a bond between the files of this revolution with the ranks seen in the central core of this movement, being the PMOI/MEK.

The PMOI/MEK and the organized Iranian Resistance movement are realizing the overthrow of the mullahs’ regime. The Iranian Resistance Units played a key role and had a major impact on nationwide uprisings of December 2017 and November 2019 that shook the Iranian regime in its entirety. This brave and young generation is an extension of the more than 120,000 MEK members who have sacrificed their lives for freedom in more than five decades and are realizing the overthrow of the mullahs’ regime.

These selfless, determined, and spirited men and women believe that the Iranian people’s fight against coronavirus is part of their fateful resistance against the mullahs’ regime and the inhuman clerical regime, and their mission is to establish freedom, democracy and popular sovereignty in Iran.

In the powder keg circumstances of Iran’s society, the MEK’s organized structure based on the Resistance Units activities is the most important force behind regime change in Iran.

Last month the Iranian Resistance Units spread their activities to more than 70 cities across the countries.

Also, many Iranian officials and state media have acknowledged the leading role of the MEK, in the Iran protests that began on November 15, 2019.

The head of the IRGC’s paramilitary Bassij force, Gholamreza Soleimani, said: “The MEK has cells (units) in our country. And in other countries, too, agents and the MEK who are tied to America damage the public’s interests.” (Tabnak website, November 18)

The IRGC’s spokesperson, Ramezan Sharif, was quoted by the Mehr News Agency as saying: “Rioters belonged to the MEK. The MEK has a darker track record than the monarchists. They have a violent streak. In a recent poll, the MEK has been identified as the most hated group.” Mehr news agency adds: “He pointed to the fact that the rioters were trained, equipped and organized by the MEK in order to plot against the country and said: ‘These people carry out tangible activities both in the realm of the soft war and cultural warfare, as well as in the area of inciting insecurity.”‘ (November 20)

Ali Shamkhani, Secretary for the Supreme National Security Council: “I believe 34 MEK members have been arrested so far. A vast network of individuals, operating not under the MEK’s name, but pursuing their line and modus operandi were also identified.” (Defa’ Press, November 24, 2019)
