Brave Iranian youth torch posters of Khamenei while celebrating Nowruz

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, March 22, 2020—Iranians all around the world celebrated the Persian New year Nowruz on March 20, 2020. But due to the outbreak of coronavirus which has already taken the lives of more than 8,800 people, it is maybe the most difficult new year celebration for Iranians, especially those living in Iran. But despite the critical situation, the Iranian people believe that the solution to coronavirus outbreak, poverty, and oppression in Iran is overthrowing the mullahs’ religious dictatorship in its entirety.

This is the reason why the brave rebellious and defiant youth and also the members of the Iranian Resistance Units, a network of People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) activists, continued their activities across the country echoed the Iranian peoples desire for a free and democratic Iran. The Resistance Units emphasized that the real virus is the regime’s supreme leader and chanted “Khamenei the sinister leader, you are the real virus.”

On new year, members of the Iranian Resistance Units laid flowers on the graves of the martyrs of the November 2019 nationwide uprising in Tehran (Ebn Babviyeh), Behbahan, Isfahan, Mashhad, Tabriz, Karaj, Qom, Ilam, Doroud, Kermanshah, Bandar Gaz, Ghaemshahr, Babol and Shahre Kord, and said we will continue your path for freedom.

On March 19, the rebellious youths in Tehran, Kerman, Isfahan, Eslamshahr (Tehran), Mehr Shahr (Karaj), Chabahar, Bandar Abas and Shahre Kord torched banners, billboards and posters of regime officials including Supreme leader Ali Khamenei and IRGC commander Qasem Soleimani, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in January.

The brave youth in Shahreh Kord torched an IRGC Basij sign. Basij, a subsidiary of the terrorist-designated Revolutionary Guards, is the Iranian regime’s paramilitary forces and the most hated suppressive group that is used to crackdown protests and demonstrations such as the November nationwide uprising.

Also on March 17, the brave and defiant youths in Tehran, Karaj, Isfahan, Shiraz, Gorgan, Shahre Quds, Urumia, Sari, Kerman, Zahedan, Yazd and Lahijan torched banners, posters, effigies and images of regime’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei while celebrating the annual Persian Fire Festival.

“Did you think that the coronavirus could buy you some time [and people won’t come to the streets]? Yes, but you didn’t know something worse will come after that. It is just the beginning,” an Iranian youth in Yazd said while burning images of Khamenei.

In Urumia members of the MEK Resistance Units chanted while celebrating Fire Festival: “The IRGC must be annihilated so that the oppressed people of Iran can be rescued. The regime must be crushed everywhere”, “We’ll answer Fire with fire” and “Damn Khomeini”
