Iran: Protests reported in Tabriz, other cities

Iran, Dec. 5, 2018 – As living conditions continue to become more difficult and more than 80 percent of Iranians are living in poverty, protests by people from all walks of life are mushrooming across the country.

Employees of a ball-bearing factory in Tabriz, northwest Iran, rallied on Tuesday protesting not receiving their paychecks for the past four months. This is the country’s largest ball-bearing factory.

A group of farmers in Qazvin, also in northwest Iran, rallied on Tuesday, protesting the authorities’ measures of closing down a water pumping station and depriving locals of water for their farms. This rally was held outside the Qazvin Province Water Department.

In Karaj, west of Tehran, people who had purchased vehicles and already placed their down payments were seen holding a gathering outside the sales department of Bahman Motors, protesting a 110 percent increase in prices.

Personnel of Khomeini Hospital in Karaj also held a rally on Tuesday, protesting delays in their paychecks. They were seen chanting:

“Our patience is running thin – Oh God, please help us”

 

As Iranian regime President Hassan Rouhani visited the city of Shahroud (east of Tehran) on Tuesday, a large crowd held a rally protesting his presence in their city. The protesters were raising signs protesting Rouhani’s visit to their city, especially angry over his incompetence and not living up to any of his pre-election promises.

In other news, a large number of students at Tehran’s Amirkabir University of Technology held a rally on Tuesday morning in solidarity with protesting and jailed workers, and students and teachers who are currently held behind bars.

 

 

The students, forming a long chain, were holding a variety of signs and chanting slogans:

“Cannons, tanks, guns, they are no longer effective”

“Workers, students, unite, unite”

“Jailed workers, students & teachers must be released”

“Victory is near. Down with this deceptive government.”

The mullahs’ regime, deeply concerned of the expanding college students’ protests and the number of protesters in this rally, dispatched its repressive and plainclothes agents to the campus to hold an anti-rally.

 

 

However, the brave college students continued their demonstrations and reports even show scuffles at the scene. One college student was reportedly injured as a result. Scenes posted on the internet show a large number of college students holding their lines and the regime’s Basij agents failing to encircle and/or silence them.

 

 

 

 

Students of Nowshirvani University in Babol, north of Iran, protested the regime’s repressive measures on their campus. They were holding signs reading:

“Universities are alive”

“Stop the crackdown against students”

“Students will not live in shame”

In other reports, students of Sahand Industrial College in Tabriz, northwest Iran, also held a protest rally.

In reports from Mashhad, northeast Iran, clients of the Caspian credit firm, known to be linked to the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) rallied outside a branch of this firm and demanded their stolen savings returned.

They were chanting:

“With all this embezzlement, where are the thieves heading?”

“All this injustice under a religious government”

 

In Rasht, northern Iran, other Caspian clients also held a rally chanting and demanding their life savings returned from this plundering regime-led entity.

“No to live in shame”

“We will tire out the thieves and get our money back”

“We won’t quit until we get our money back”

“With all this embezzlement, where is the main corrupt culprit?”

“Inflation, high prices, answer to us Rouhani”

“These rallies will continue until all our money is returned.”
