Iran Protests Update: More names of killed protesters confirmed

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, December 24, 2019—The Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) has published the names of 30 more protesters killed by the mullahs’ oppressive security forces during the November nationwide uprising, bringing the tally to 587 victims identified to this day.

At least 1,500 civilians were murdered by the mullahs’ oppressive security forces and these numbers are unfortunately subject to rise. Reports obtained by the MEK indicate over 12,000 are behind bars.

The Iranian opposition coalition National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) issued its statement number 62 on the November uprising saying, “The massacre of the protesters and torturing and mistreating those detained… is a manifest case of crime against humanity and requires urgent action by the international community. Inaction vis-à-vis the killing of defenseless people and the torturing to death of prisoners are absolutely unacceptable and only encourage the continuation and intensification of crimes against humanity.’”

Mohammad Jafar Montazeri, the regime’s prosecutor general, brazenly said [on December 22] that during the “November uprising, if four rioters carrying weapons, destroying [property] and attacking law-enforcement and military centers were killed in those incidents, they blame the government… Piling on the number of casualties means some of those who were carrying the enemy’s weapons killed some people in the crowd and blamed it on the Government.” Terrified of the resumption of the uprising, he said every day there’s the possibility that they might incite riots across the country.

The names of 10 martyrs are as follows:

  1. Tehran – Islamshahr – Kamal Faraji
  2. Tehran – Quds – Hossain Abravi
  3. Ahvaz – Reza Beletizadeh
  4. Shiraz – Sadeq Sa’adat
  5. Sanandaj – Pouya Ahmadzadeh
  6. Kermanshah – Saeed Esmaeelian
  7. Karaj – Ali Morshedi
  8. Karaj – Mohsen Rahimi
  9. Andimeshk – Assad Birovand
  10. Andimeshk – Rahim Eskandari

In other news, MEK supporters are under intense torture and some have been killed as regime authorities seek to obtain coerced confessions, according to exclusive reports from Evin, Gohardasht and other prisons. The mullahs’ regime is attempting to have these detainees “confess” to being paid by the MEK to torch banks and shoot at innocent bystanders.

In response to a recent report published by Reuters, U.S. Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook said, “The Reuters report on the massacre ordered by [Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ali] Khamenei underscores the urgency for the international community to punish the perpetrators and isolate the regime for the murder of 1,500 Iranian citizens.”

NCRI Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Mohammad Mohaddessin responded to the Reuters report reiterating the fact that in its November 17th statement, the NCRI said, "IRGC forces opened fire on the people on strict orders from Khamenei.” On December 15, the NCRI announced that the martyrs were more than 1,500. Now on Dec.23, three officials of the mullahs' regime have confirmed the figure to Reuters, Mohaddessin said. The same three officials have confirmed that Khamenei in a private meeting with senior regime officials reiterated, “The Islamic Republic is in danger. Do whatever it takes to end it. You have my order.”

NCRI President Maryam Rajavi is calling on the United Nations to dispatch a fact-finding mission to visit those prisons where detainees of the recent November uprising are being held. In the absence of such supervision, the mullahs’ regime in Iran enjoys a free will to carry any and all crimes.

International dignitaries are continuously condemning the brutal crackdown ordered by Khamenei against the nationwide demonstrations. Horrific images show members of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) shooting from roof-tops or point-blank range at unarmed demonstrators. In many cases the Iranian regime deployed helicopters and tanks to confront to crackdown on the people, the statement adds.

Concerning is the fact that senior regime officials are calling for the execution of arrested protesters, the statement continues. Iranian regime President Hassan Rouhani backed oppressive measures against demonstrators and his advisor threatened the PMOI – whom senior officials consider the main element behind the recent uprising – to a new killing spree similar to the 1988 massacre of political prisoners. Over 30,000 political prisoners were executed through the course of summer 1988.

The international community’s silence in regard to these crimes, being one of the most horrific cases of the 21st century, is inexcusable. Senior Iranian regime officials must be held to account.
