Iran: Four suppressive centers targeted by defiant youth

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, September 23, 2020—While many Iranian regime’s officials warn about the explosive state of the society and try to contain daily protests through repression and recent executions of political prisoners, four suppressive centers affiliated to the Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) have been targeted in the past few days by defiant and rebellious youths.

In recent days, two IRGC Basij bases were targeted in the cities of Yazd and Joveyn, in south-central and northeastern Iran, respectively. The signs and entrances of these bases were torched, sending meaningful messages to the regime’s security forces. The Basij are the most hated suppressive paramilitary force inside Iran and a subsidiary of the terrorist designated IRGC. Its main role is to preserve the mullahs’ rule through the crackdown of protests and demonstrations, such as the nationwide November 2019 uprising.

In the Pakdasht district of the Iranian capital Tehran, a regime’s looting center of the so-called “Martyrs Foundation” was set on fire. On the same day in the city of Mashhad, northeast Iran, a center focused on promoting fundamentalism was targeted by more brave youths. These institutions are used by the mullahs as instruments to suppress the Iranian people and plunder their wealth.

The “Martyrs Foundation” is affiliated to the regime’s economic powerhouse, the Astan-e-Quds-e-Razavi charity foundation. Astan-e-Quds controls a large portion of the capital and companies in northeast Iran. Astan-e-Quds is a financial contributor to the IRGC and is only accountable to regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The foundation is headed by judiciary chief Ebrahim Raisi, known criminal for his leading role in the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in 1988. This horrific crime against humanity has been described by experts as the most atrocious crime after World War II.

Simultaneously, images of Khamenei were torched in northern cities Lahijan and Rasht, northern Iran.

These measures portray Iranian people’s hatred of the regime and their desire to overthrow the mullahs.

On the same days, members of the Iranian Resistance Units, the internal network of the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), continued to expand their activities checkered across the country. The Resistance Units organized anti-regime activities in the cities of Tehran, Tabriz, Shiraz, Isfahan, Mashhad, Nishapur, Saveh, Quchan, Qom, Doroud, Kazeroun, Hamadan, Ahvaz, Babol, Shahr-e Quds, Lahijan, Behbahan, and Paveh.

Resistance Units members held up signs and took to graffiti with anti-regime slogans and messages of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi, and President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) Maryam Rajavi.

The Resistance Units also protested the regime’s repression and hailed Navid Afkari, the executed 27-year-old wrestling champion, as a national hero. Their slogans read:

“We will overthrow the regime, no matter the executions”

“We will die for freedom”

“The only solution to prevent executions of more youth like Navid is to revolt and protest”

“We will avenge Navid’s execution.”

These activities, portraying the readiness of the Iranian society for change and the organizational capability of the MEK inside Iran, are inspirational for millions of Iranians living under the mullahs’ crackdown.
