Iran, November 5, 2020—While the Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei recently revealed his fear of a new uprising and the growing influence of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), the Iranian Resistance Units continued to organize anti-regime activities across the country.
The Resistance Units are MEK’s network inside Iran. They played a major role in inspiring and leading protests in Iran in recent years.
While the anniversary of the November 2019 nationwide uprising is approaching, the Resistance Units have been organizing widespread activities across the country in honor of martyrs of the protests and in a pledge to continue the struggle for freedom.
On November 15, 2019 the regime tripled gasoline prices and sparked outrage across the country which quickly turned into the biggest anti-regime protests since the 1979 revolution. The protests, which spread to more than 190 cities and lasted for several days, shook the foundations of the mullahs’ rule. The regime’s suppressive forces gunned down 1,500 civilians in a few days to quell the protests.
The Resistance Units installed images and pictures of the martyrs and took to graffiti with anti-regime slogans in cities such as Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz, Mashhad, Urmia, Karaj, Behbahan, Kashmar, Bijar, Tabriz, Ahvaz, Torbat-e-Jam, and Rudsar.
Their slogans read:
“Rise up to overthrow the regime”
“Down with Khamenei”
“Down with Khamenei, Viva Maryam Rajavi”
“The Nov. 2019 uprising proved that the only way to achieve freedom is fighting against the mullahs.”
“Mullahs, let go of Iran”
“We’ll answer fire with fire, the November 2019 uprising is continuing”
“Mullahs’ coronavirus is killing people.”
“IRGC’s decay is necessary for Iranian people’s victory”
Despite increased security measures on the anniversary of nationwide protests, in Tehran, the Resistance Units installed posters of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi and President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) Maryam Rajavi. Especially in Tehran, these activities are very courageous because they are taking place against the threat of heavy presence of security forces in the city streets.

Regime’s failed efforts to suppress an explosive society
Also, several regime’s suppressive centers were targeted and torched in recent days. The rebellious and defiant youth of Tehran, Isfahan, Homayounfar (Isfahan), Kish (Hormozgan), and Gonabad targeted five Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) Basij bases. The Basij are the most hated suppressive paramilitary force inside Iran and a subsidiary of the terrorist-designated IRGC. Its main role is to preserve the mullahs’ rule through repressive measures against protests and demonstrations. The basij played a prominent role in quelling the November 2019 protests and are part of the regime’s new plan to increase repressive measures on the anniversary of the uprising.

Also, in Isfahan and Khorramabad, two offices of the regime’s judiciary were targeted in protest and outrage for recently issued death sentences against arrested protesters, including wrestling champion Navid Afkari and Mostafa Salehi.

In Tehran, the brave and rebellious youths torched a center focusing on the spread of fundamentalism. The regime uses these headquarters to spy on locals and enforce the mullahs’ outdated teachings.
In another act of outrage in Karaj and Basht in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, the brave youth set fire to the image of the regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and a propaganda banner of the regime.
These acts have been increasing since 2017 that Iran faced five nationwide protests. It also shows that the regime’s efforts to contain the explosive state of the society through suppression and executions have had a reverse effect. The rebellious youth continue to manifest their desire to overthrow the regime despite the environment of repression.
