Iran coronavirus update: Over 464,700 deaths, rising number of new cases in many cities

Iran, October 26, 2021—Over 464,700 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Tuesday afternoon local time, October 26. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 125,519 around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 108,865 in Tehran, 38,015 in Razavi Khorasan, 31,620 in Isfahan, 28,485 in Khuzestan, 17,143 in West Azerbaijan, 17,090 in Mazandaran, 16,960 in Fars, 16,210 in Gilan, 13,703 in Alborz, 12,705 in Qom, 10,265 in Golestan, 8678 in Hamedan, 8539 in Kermanshah, 8493 in Markazi (Central), 7462 in Kurdistan, and 6230 in Semnan. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Tuesday as 156 deaths and 9096 new cases. Furthermore, 4184 patients are in ICUs and 1277 of the new cases have been hospitalized.

“There are currently talks of increasing numbers of new cases. With the trend that we are witnessing the epidemic will naturally produce more new cases in the coming days,” said Nader Tavakoli, deputy chair of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Tuesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“A sixth wave remains a possibility. The number of red cities increased this week. In some specific cities we are witnessing the number of new cases escalating,” said a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Tuesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“We are seeing a high number of people being hospitalized for coronavirus. We currently have 839 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 87 are in ICUs. During the past 24 hours we registered 355 new coronavirus cases. Currently in ten cities across Kurdistan province we are seeing the cities of Saqqez and Baneh be registered as red zones. The remaining cities, other than Sarvabad, are orange zones,” said the dean of Kurdistan Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“Considering the increasing number of people seeking initial medical care for Covid-19 symptoms, we can say that the alarm bell of the sixth peak’s beginning in Mashhad has been triggered. We currently have 749 patients hospitalized, of which 178 are in ICUs and the decreasing trend of Covid-19 deaths has stopped,” according to a statement released on Tuesday by the Mashhad Medical Sciences University.

“During the past 24 hours 15 confirmed cases of coronavirus deaths and 166 new cases were reported,” said the spokesperson of Kermanshah Province Covid-19 Task Force on Tuesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“During the past 24 hours 223 new patients were hospitalized and the total stands at 1660, of which 202 are in ICUs,” said the dean of Shiraz Medical Sciences University on Fars province, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

“During the past 24 hours 275 new patients were hospitalized and 21 people lost their lives. We currently have a total of 1598 patients hospitalized, of which 279 are in ICUs,” according to a joint statement released on Tuesday by the Isfahan and Kashan Medical Sciences universities.
