Iran coronavirus update: Over 319,100 deaths, red zone cities increasing to the north

Iran, June 28, 2021—Over 319,100 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Monday afternoon local time, June 28. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 83,985, around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 74,736 in Tehran, 21,530 in Isfahan, 20,186 in Khuzestan, 19,410 in Razavi Khorasan, 12,540 in Mazandaran, 11,888 in West Azerbaijan, 10,707 in Fars, 9850 in Qom, 7641 in Sistan & Baluchistan, 7283 in Kerman, 6583 in Markazi (Central), 4650 in Hormozgan, 3930 in Ardabil, 3669 in Qazvin, 3465 in Zanjan, and 3439 in Bushehr. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Sunday as 140 deaths and 12,351 new cases, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency. Furthermore, 3185 patients are in ICUs and 1417 of the new cases have been hospitalized.

The spokesperson of the regime’s Health Ministry reported the number of red zone cities is increasing from the country’s southern portions to the central areas, and more people are being hospitalized in Tehran. “The city of Tehran may also be registered as a red city,” she added.

The semi-official ISNA news agency issued a report Monday warned of a possible fifth wave since the Indian and South African variant are circulating in the southern parts of the country. The number of new cases is skyrocketing in the country’s southern provinces, while other provinces have seen an end to the decreasing trend or stats rising once again. Soon there will be an increase in the number of patients hospitalized and deaths due to coronavirus. It is possible that most parts of the country will once again face issues such as shortages in hospital beds and oxygen tanks, the reports added.

 

 

A senior health official in the city of Khash in Sistan & Baluchistan province declared emergency conditions and red zone status in this area and the city of Taftan, adding all hospitals are packed with patients, according to a Monday report wired by the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“With the city of Chabahar now registered as a red zone, all stores, markets, and recreational areas are ordered to close down for two weeks,” said the mayor of Chabahar on Monday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“The number of people being hospitalized and losing their lives due to Covid-19 has increased in the past week, going beyond the country’s average,” according to a Monday report wired by ISNA.

“During the past 24 hours 94 new coronavirus patients have been hospitalized while only 74 have been released,” said the public relations director at the Mazandaran Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“During the past 24 hours we have registered 600 new patients contracting coronavirus across the province, of which 158 were hospitalized. Currently we have 908 people hospitalized, of which 144 are in ICUs,” said the spokesperson of the Isfahan Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the IMNA news agency.
