While the National Covid-19 Task Force is reporting the mutated strain of Covid-19 has spread to nearly all parts of Iran and concerned about escalating public outrage over the regime’s ongoing delays in importing the vaccine, regime President Hassan Rouhani defended the mullahs’ measures in confronting the coronavirus crisis. He expressed his gratitude regarding the import of approved vaccines from Russia, China and India. “It is necessary for our nation to know that regarding the vaccination process, they should be informed about these major measures… in order to prevent any doubt and confusion on this topic,” he added.

“In the one-year period of this Covid-19 era, in general I can say that the number of daily deaths has reached 400 per day. This is unprecedented in the past 50 years. Around 40 percent of the country’s coronavirus victims are buried at the Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery,” said the director of this facility on Monday, according to the state-run Entekhab daily.

“All provincial capitals are considered yellow zones and the mutated virus is now circulating in 29 provinces. Currently 62 percent of the cases in Khuzestan province are of the UK stain,” said Alireza Raisi, spokesperson of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Monday. “The people’s tolerance has decreased and there is an enormous amount of pressure on the people. It is also worth noting that the tolerance of the medical apparatus has also decreased. Yes, the vaccination process is slow,” he added, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“More college students are contracting Covid-19 in comparison to ordinary people, meaning college students are contracting the virus 4.5 times more than ordinary people,” said an official of the Ministry of Sciences.

“If the provinces of Tehran and Khuzestan are set aside as the areas with the highest number of cases of the mutated strain entering and exiting their borders, West Azerbaijan and Markazi are among the provinces with the highest number of mutated strain cases. The mutated strain is spreading across the country,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Monday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“There are disturbing reports regarding the mutated strain. Conditions have become extremely dangerous especially in the city of Tehran during the past two or three days. All the hospitals and ICUs are filled with patients,” said a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Monday. This number of new cases will have dire consequences for all of us… I do not have much faith in the colorization of our cities. This illness can change a city’s color designation within 48 to 72 hours. For example, Khuzestan went from being designated as a blue to a red zone within one week. Circumstances in Khuzestan are quite dire, and the status quo is out of control,” this official added, according to the state-controlled Aria media outlet.

The deputy dean of Tabriz Medical Sciences University said on Monday, “Six counties in the province are contaminated with the UK virus. The trend of cases in [Eastern Azarbaijan province] is worrying.” (Source: ISNA news agency)

The dean of Alborz Medical Sciences University said, “Seven Covid-19 patients lost their lives in hospitals in the past 24 hours and the number of deaths has reached 2,791.” (Source: IRNA, March 15)
