“In this peak, in contrast to the previous two peaks, we have reached the climax much faster. This shows that the virus’ spread in Tehran has increased,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Wednesday. “Furthermore, hospital stay in the capital has increased by one to two days. In this phase we are faced with family clusters that need to be hospitalized. The number of people seeking medical treatment has increased and hospitals are providing medical service to both Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients. With this speed of new cases, it is best for Tehran to be shut down for two weeks to allow medical professionals to have time to regain their strength. Considering the fact that winter is coming, one of the main issues facing our medical professionals is saving strategic stocks, medicine, equipment and supplies, along with long-term necessities. The medical sciences universities of Tehran province are facing a major decrease in revenue and this is very concerning as much of the hospitals under the umbrella is dependent on these revenues,” he added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“All the beds that have been allocated to coronavirus in our hospitals are practically decreased from the capacity of other branches in our hospitals. We are decreasing non-coronavirus medical treatment that are not urgent cases in order to have beds for Covid-19 patients,” said deputy dean of Tehran Medical Sciences University on Wednesday. “The number of coronavirus patients continues to increase. Across the country providing oxygen to the patients has become a challenge because never has there been such high consumption of oxygen in our hospitals,” he added, according to ISNA.

“The number of confirmed coronavirus deaths in the past 24 hours reached 18 counts. The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases has reached 1928,” said the spokesperson of the Kerman Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

The spokesperson of the Yazd Medical Sciences University reported 18 Covid-19 deaths across Yazd province in the past 24 hours. “Currently there are 982 coronavirus patients hospitalized across the province, of which 161 are in ICUs,” the official said on Wednesday, according to Mehr.

“The number of Covid-19 cases in facilities under this institute’s supervision has increased by 150 percent,” said the dean of Shahroud Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the regime’s official IRNA news agency.

“In the past 24 hours we have had 18 coronavirus deaths reported and the total number of Covid-19 deaths have reached 918,” said the dean of Markazi Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to Mehr.
