Iran coronavirus update: 11,900 COVID-19 casualties across 224 cities

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, March 26, 2020—11,900 people in 224 cities across Iran have died of coronavirus since the epidemic began, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) announced this afternoon.

The number of victims in Tehran is 1,650, in Golestan is 670, Khuzestan is 540, in Kurdistan 225, in Kermanshah is 340, in Yazd is 230, in Ardabil is 185 and in South Khorasan is 12. This is in addition to the figures in other provinces.

Iran has the highest number of deaths across the world. Getting real figures from Iran is very difficult as the regime goes to great length to conceal information about the coronavirus outbreak and prevent the scale of the disaster from becoming known.

The official death toll announced by the regime is 2,200, less than a fifth of the real death toll. Regime officials have admitted that the casualties in Iran are higher than China's, where the COVID-19 pandemic began.
