April 27, 2018 – The French Committee for a Democratic Iran (FCDI) is calling on the European Union to designate Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) as terrorist organizations. The letter emphasizes the IRGC and MOIS are the sources of numerous foiled terrorist plots on European soil.
The FCDI welcomes the recent decision by the U.S. administration to blacklist the IRGC as a “Foreign Terrorist Organization” (FTO). Such a decision, being unprecedented in nature, is in line with the April 6 statement issued by the G7 Council of Foreign Ministers expressing grave concerns over the mullahs’ destabilizing activities across the Middle East, and especially in countries such as Yemen, Lebanon, and Syria.
The FCDI strongly reiterates that the threat of nuclear proliferation has never been so imminent and places all responsibilities on the shoulders of the Iranian regime.
The FCDI also reiterates the major threat of war flaring across the Middle East, resulting directly from the Iranian regime’s terrorism and destructive measures.
Tehran also sacrifices the Iranian people’s legitimate needs for the sake of providing the heavy expenses of expanding its nuclear apparatus and fueling its destructive foreign adventurism. This regime is oppressing the Iranian people’s most basic necessities and is deaf to the younger generation’s freedom-loving demands. Despite all this, this regime’s entire crackdown apparatus has never been able to overcome the Iranian people’s courage and bright perspective.
The FDIC calls on free and democratic nations to support the Iranian opposition movement, symbolized in the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) led by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, that is striving for freedom, separation of church and state, and living in peace and harmony with rest of the region and the world.
The FDIC calls on the European Union to adopt measures similar to that of the U.S. by blacklisting IRGC and MOIS as terrorist organizations for being the source of numerous foiled terrorist plots on the European soil in 2018 alone.
