Floods in Iran: Locals of Goldasht in Ahvaz are evacuating their homes

Reported by PMOI/MEK

Iran, April 11, 2019 – Reports on early Thursday morning local time from Ahvaz in Khuzestan Province, southwest Iran indicate that residents of Goldasht are evacuating their homes as rising floodwaters are placing them in danger. People across the province of Khuzestan, similar to other provinces, are constantly complaining of not receiving any government aid. This further indicates that the mullahs’ regime in Iran cares nothing about the people even in such desperate times.

Conditions on the famous Karun River are reported to be very critical.

Floodwaters are also rising in the Lashkar Abad district of Ahvaz, the capital of the oil-rich Khuzestan Province.

A resident of the city of Shush, also in Khuzestan Province, reported that all villages around this city have been engulfed by floodwaters and authorities are ordering residents to evacuate their homes. Schools are closed and more floods are forecasted for the near future.

Currently, there is no government support for the people and all assistance is provided for flood-hit areas by locals from nearby regions. All agricultural lands are flooded and reports indicate a dead body from Lorestan Province, western Iran, has been recovered in floodwaters that have now reached hundreds of kilometers downstream in Khuzestan Province.

People evacuating their homes have sought refuge in a school where, unfortunately, there is no sign of government support.

Locals of Kurdistan Province in western Iran are resorting to all necessary measures to send aid to the flood-hit areas.

Sewage water has reportedly mixed with floodwaters in the Kuye Melat and 12th Boulevard districts of Ahvaz.

An angry local in the city of Ahvaz protested the lack of any government aid.

“How much cruelty?! For seven days we’ve been surrounded by water”

You are saying the government doesn’t have a single tent for me? My sister is sleeping out in the cold… To whomever I say, they say it’s not my responsibility… should I kill myself?” he screams.

Floods are also reported in the Eyn Do district of Ahvaz and its streets.

Locals are in dire conditions in the Hamidiyeh district of Ahvaz.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, president of the Iranian opposition, the National Council of Resistance of Iran expressed deep concern of the continuous catastrophic situation in Ahvaz and other flood-hit areas and tweeted:

” The Iranian regime must put resources of IRGC & Army & government agencies, particularly heavy machinery& navy boats, at the disposal of the people…
