Iran, August 26, 2020—On Tuesday, family members of the passengers killed in the Ukrainian International Airlines flight PS752 that was shot down by the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), gathered outside the Ukrainian embassy demanding a meeting with the Ukrainian ambassador in Tehran.
All 176 passengers and crew on board flight PS752 were killed as a result of the IRGC shooting down the civilian plane using two surface-to-air missiles.
The families were carrying pictures of their loved ones who lost their lives in the horrific attack.
Locals of a village near Ahvaz, southwest Iran, demand drinking water for their homes—August 24, 2020
A group of residents from the village of Dobb-e Hardan near the city of Ahvaz in Khuzestan Province, southwest Iran, held a rally on Monday, August 24, protesting the lack of drinking water and demanding water tankers be sent to their village.
“According to the officials’ promise, daily water tankers were supposed to be sent to the village until the water supplying project was finalized. However, there have been no such measure,” one protester said.
“The village has a population of 2,000 people and thirst during the excruciating summer heat has made life very difficult. And no one knows when the water supply project will come to an end,” he added.
Oil and petrochemical site workers continue their strike in Iran
On Tuesday, August 25, workers of Iran’s oil and gas refineries, petrochemicals, and power plants, continued their strike for the 25th consecutive day.

On Sunday, railway workers in the cities of Varamin, Pishva and Garmsar in Tehran province protested delayed paychecks and blocked the rail tracks.
The workers quit working, protesting delayed paychecks and premiums, and held a gathering in their workplace.

Afterwards, due to negligence and the lack of any response from officials of the Traverse Company (Railway Service & Technical Engineering Co.), the protesting workers gathered on the rails and stopped the train.
The protesting workers emphasized they will continue their protest through different methods until all their demands are met.

On Tuesday, August 24, contract teachers gathered in front of the Majlis(parliament) seeking answers to their demands, including permanent contracts and insurance pensions.
Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Company workers on strike
On Wednesday, August 26, workers of the Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Company continued their protest rally in front of the governorate in the city of Shush in Khuzestan province, southwest Iran. The strike has continued for 73 consecutive day.
Simultaneously with the presence of the workers, a large number of repressive security and police forces were dispatched to the scene the day before, dispersing the striking workers by suppressing their legal and peaceful gathering.
The protesting workers insist on continuing the strike and maintaining their unity until their demands are met.

The most important issues raised by these workers during this strike are as follows:
Immediate payment of delayed paychecks and renewal of their insurance booklets
Immediate return to work for fired colleagues
Immediate arrest of Omid Assadbeigi (CEO of the Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Agro-Industrial Complex) and life imprisonment for this corrupt individual
Immediate dismissal of corrupt employers from Haft Tappeh
Immediate return of embezzled wealth to the workers
Ending the careers of already retired managers
