Iran, July 2, 2019 – UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is concerned that Iran’s regime has breached parts of the 2015 nuclear deal and urged the regime to continue implementing all its nuclear related commitments.
“Such action by Iran would not help preserve the plan, nor secure the tangible economic benefits for the Iranian people. It is essential that this issue … be addressed through the mechanism established by the JCPOA,” U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters.
Under the nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), there is an article that could, within as little as 65 days, end at the U.N. Security Council with a so-called snapback of U.N. sanctions on Iran.
