In the grand gathering of the Iranian Resistance held in Paris on February 10, 2025, many speakers, as well as the slogans and interviews of the participants, paid special attention to PMOI Resistance Units and their unique role and position in Iran’s current situation.
This special attention, as well as the political and social impacts of the gathering in Paris, necessitates the recognition and clarification of the position of the Resistance Units.
The common thread in all the attention and descriptions of the Resistance Units is the expression of the fact that a prominent feature of their work is paying the price of changing the conditions from stagnation and doubt to movement and hope and certainty.
Where have the Resistance Units come from?
Every person, movement, or group who feels responsible for the political and social developments and the future of the country scrutinizes the correct path and approach to reach this destination.
For example, in the uprising of December 2017, the popular slogan “Reformists, hardliners—the game is over” marked a turning point in Iran’s politics, the ultimate manifestation of the people’s desire to overthrow the regime in its entirety and the rejection of all factions within the regime. But what is the path forward, now that the game is over for the regime? The answer is the Resistance Units. The end of any hope for change from within the government necessitates the existence of an alternative outside it.
The Resistance Units are the product of a deep understanding of the political, social, and cultural conditions of Iran. They constitute the responsible and serious approach to standing against the regime’s apparatus of repression and changing the balance of power in favor of the people and the democratic revolution.
While many media and analytical outlets were interpreting and analyzing “what should be done,” the Resistance Units had taken matters into their hands and were taking concrete measures to support the people’s uprising and prevent the regime from stifling the voice of the Resistance.
The culmination of decades of resistance
The strategy of the Resistance Units is the culmination of all experiences and achievements of this movement since the 1979 revolution. This strategy, in particular, has passed through the twists and turns of the 2022 uprising—with all kinds of reactionary and colonialist tricks to divert its path—to shed light on the true path to realizing a free and democratic Iran.
The Resistance Units are the concrete embodiment of a vanguard that breaks all barriers and set an example of never surrendering to the regime’s repression. By organizing anti-regime activities across the country despite the regime’s growing wave of repression, the Resistance Units guarantee the continuation of the struggle and the accumulation of national power to realize the overthrow of the mullahs’ reactionary rule.
The front line of freedom advocacy
Every activity of the Resistance Units, while serving as a reminder of the Iranian people’s capacity to bring change on their own, fills the hearts of the majority of Iranian people with hope and praise. Each Resistance Unit represents an ever-burning fire that stands against the wasteland of despair and darkness of the mullahs’ theocracy.
The Resistance Units are the natural outcome of multiple rounds of uprisings in the past years, backed by decades of selfless sacrifices and Resistance against tyranny, marked with more than 120,000 martyrs who laid down their lives for freedom. With such momentum, the people of Iran have everything they need to overthrow the mullahs’ rule and make sure that Iran never returns to any form of dictatorship, whether it be the shah’s monarchy or the mullahs’ theocracy.
