Iran’s regime futilely tries to paint a rosy picture of the economy

The economic crisis plaguing in Iran has reached unimaginable proportions. It has almost reached the point where a worthless banknote is paid for a few pieces of potatoes, like the situation in Germany before World War II. The German government at that time printed so much unsupported money that the currency itself had lost its symbolic value, to the extent that one US dollar was equivalent to 4 trillion German marks, and common banknotes were used as notepads.

Now, under the rule of the mullahs, it seems that Iran is replicating the worst economic and living conditions of warmongering and invading governments in neighboring lands.

Economists’ warning to the short-sighted ruler

In these early days of the new year, Iranian regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei and his entourage in the executive branch, led by regime president Ebrahim Raisi, continuously spoke good about the looted and bankrupt state of the economy and tried to offer hope. However, the response by economists reveal the bitter truth of Iran’s economy.

Economist Farshad Momeni has criticized the optimistic statements of government officials regarding the economy and referred to them as “short-sighted policies.”

On April 7, the state-run Ettelaat newspaper quoted Momeni, as saying, “Unfortunately, we witness that in key and fundamental decision-making levels of the country, there are approaches lacking in foresight, development, science-centeredness, and ethics-centeredness. Observing the recent efforts of the government to present a hopeful outlook for Iran’s economy in the new year, it demonstrates the dominance of short-sighted policies.”

Momeni emphasizes that “even the advisors to the president don’t have a grasp of the basics of economics and development.” He questions the government spokesperson’s claim that Iran is entering a phase of economic prosperity. However, he doesn’t address why a significant portion of Iran’s economic resources are being consumed within the framework of mafia interests, including import mafias, usurers, profiteers, and similar groups.

Depicting a rosy picture from economic crisis

The living conditions of millions of Iranians are plunging into poverty and destitution.

On April 7, the state-run Ettelaat newspaper wrote, “The greatest and most important indicator of social unrest is the crisis of imbalance between incomes and expenses for most families or the relative imbalance of prices and costs. Disguising the economic and financial cycle of the country may not pose much of a problem in the realm of media and advertising. However, people in society adjust themselves to the realities of their personal and social lives. The undeniable reality within the belief system of many families, with fixed incomes and fluctuating and rising expenses, is this statement: There is a crisis in the general livelihood of the people!”

The regime’s inverted narratives, statistical manipulations, and whitewashing have provoked protests and dissent even from some of the regime’s insiders.

On April 7, the state-run Ham-Mihan newspaper reported, “The economic statistics presented by the government and even the Statistical Center of Iran, as well as the statements of the country’s officials, suggest that the Iranian economy has been on the right track. However, the economic reality (people’s livelihoods and financial and capital markets) and the devaluation of the national currency cry out that the quantity of Iran’s economy is lagging, and the future economic path for Iran is more uncertain than ever.”

Interestingly, in the face of the news of the resignation of the Minister of Economy and its denial, and the attribution of it to imaginary enemies, Ham-Mihan reported, “This reaction once again shows the government’s escape from economic realities, as officials try to deceive not the public opinion but themselves by using strange words instead of making accurate and economic statements about the current economic situation.”

The era of ruling regime in Iran and the mafia of plunderers and deceivers is coming to an end. The impoverished and suffering people of Iran are fed up with this regime and suffering the consequences of its corruption.

This is why, more than ever, the people of Iran are determined to overthrow this corrupt regime and establish a democratic state is a definite goal to accomplished.

As rebellious youths are chanting in every corner of Iran, “It is time for a revolution.”
